1.) Andy and I have been seeing a movie every week...it's our date day. On Wed. our local theater has "senior" prices. It's only $7.50 ($3.75 each) for the two of us to see a movie matinee. Yesterday we saw "Public Enemy" with Johnny Depp (Ooooooo...he's maturing so well...hubba!) and we loved it. It was a bit gory but sure depicted the depression gangster era of the Midwest very well. Dillinger was quite the guy: very elusive and very bad! Depp did an awesome job, as usual. I think he's one of the best actors going. We've also seen Angels and Demons, Star Trek and The Taking of Pellum 123 since I've been off work...all terrific movies. I can't wait for the new Harry Potter (next week while we're at the cabin). We also want to see Ice Age 3, Transformers, and Land of the Lost (Altho I can barely stand Will Farrell...I loved that TV show). Bruno...not so much. :P
2.) We've been golfing on my Tuesday night league. Well, when the weather allows. Mostly, so far, Tuesdays have been questionable with either horrible heat or rain. We were rained out after 7 holes this week. My sis and I joined the ladies league this year again after not doing it for a couple years. We missed it and it ensures that we golf at least once a week. The guys tag along for golf and then we go out to eat after...we've been eating at some fabulous places. I'm getting more into eating fish and loving some of the things I've had. Had some wonderful Orange Roughy at a nice Italian restaurant a week ago...it was so good, I got some OR and tried to make it like that at home myself, it turned out great... and I had a great blackened talapia at Chili's this week. I'm cooking more fish at home because it sure couldn't hurt. I've always said I don't like fish because I can't stand it when it's fishy tasting but there are some good fish out there.
3.) I've been keeping in touch with my workmates this summer. In fact, 8 of us got together for lunch today. I just got home from there. We had a great visit and you know what? I really like these ladies!
4.) Travel has been a biggie...beside all the wonderful states we saw on our eastern trip and getting to meet two of my all time favorite online buds, we are leaving for the cabin this Sunday and staying up there for a week. We're biting the bullet and taking Dad with us. Pray for me that I can have patience and understanding enough for spending a whole week with him...I love him dearly but Alzheimer's sucks! I just so much want him to get up to the cabin this summer and so far I'm the only volunteer, besides a couple of my siblings have already taken Dad to the cabin in the past couple years...it's really my turn. Andy is so good and patient...he'll help and we'll do this and we'll have fun!
5.) Fairs fairs and more fairs. I am planning to enter 3 fairs again this summer. I have already signed up for 2 of them to meet the deadline for getting my entry tags and I will be checking on the other one before we leave for the cabin this week. I love doing this. I plan to show some of my drawings, a painting or two, photos and if there are any, also some roses and other flowers.
It's been a good summer so far!
I"m so glad you're blogging again. You're SO positive..my kind of person. That's why we're friends :) How wonderful to have the summer off and to spend time with your hubby and friends. Seize the day!
ReplyDeleteTake pics of what you decide to enter.
ReplyDeleteI haven't golfed in about 7 years. My short game used to be fantastic, but not my long...I'd be better off putting the ball in my mouth and spitting it down the fairway!!
It's really wonderful to have you back in blogland!
Gin! I'm so glad to hear from you. I love that you and hubby have been having a movie/date night each week. That's what Hoop and I like to do too. We haven't been very good about it lately. But your movie reviews have inspired me. Maybe we'll go see Public Enemy this week. :)

There's just so much fun stuff to do in the summer time. No wonder I go stir crazy in the winter. Have fun at the lake - remember to get some quiet "me time" in there everyday!
