And then there were two...

...Amaryllis blooms, that is!

I don't mean to be so repetitive, and this post is like deja vu all over again, but I just had to show you the new bloom and tell you that I don't have to work today either! I'm so happy...that means a 5-day weekend! Gotta love it! But this weather really sucks big time.

RE: The Chickens

We have been keeping them pretty warm with their heater but the waterers keep freezing. We are still getting 7-8 eggs a day tho. Those girls are such troopers. I don't have any new pix of them...it's too damned cold to go out and take photos! But I'll get some soon. In the mean time, here are a couple of shots of some of the girls from this fall. Any stray feathers in the coop are from one of the girls getting her "big girl" feathers and she lost a few of her baby feathers.

From front to back....Betty, Jackie and Louise

I got a nice award from my long-time online friend and fellow Illinioisan Ruth .

I'm so flattered! The rules of the award are that you have to pass it on to 8 people in hopes it will spread all over blogdom. Here's what the award said..."These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award."

I will pass the award on to people who I've considered as friends since I've been blogging and beyond.

  3. Thank you, Ginn!
I love the photos of the girls. Louise is particularly stunning (my middle name, you know!).
The amaryllis is gorgeous -- looks like you'll have more blooms in a day or so.
Went to the gym this morning -- wind chill below 0. I thought I froze my ass off, but it's still there.

  4. Aww... you're so sweet Ginni. Thank you. :)

I love the colors in the amaryllis - those are my favorite combinations. I'm so glad you're not working today - it's too blasted cold! Stay warm and snuggle with Andy.

    love you,

  5. Thank you so much, my dear. And the feeling is mutual.

Your girls look lovely. I'm kind of looking forward to doing the spring cleaning on the coop. It's getting kinda nasty in there.

Maybe I should start calling Jay "The Yank" on my blog. "Yanker"? It could be an inside joke.

Snuggle Rosie for me and stay warm!

Good to get a gander at the girls. More Rosie please.

  7. How can it be SO cold? It's freezing here, but nothing like you and your chicks are feeling. Don't let their waddles freeze off.

Thanks for the award. I've considered you a friend from the beginning too.

  9. 7-8 eggs? I'm impressed. Our hens have only just started to lay again after a two-month break. You must give me some tips!
