I'm going to make some of our favorite traditional recipes for Christmas, but I'm looking for a couple of new things to try. If you have any suggestions or recipes I should try, I'd love to hear about them.
One thing I need is ideas for dishes to take to potluck type parties. I need things that are fast, easy, hot dishes and cold salads or desserts.
I'm also looking for some cookie recipes. I usually make the old standby frosted butter cookies, Russian tea cakes (also called Pecan Sandies), chocolate chip pan cookies, peanut butter cookies, Springerle for my dad and chocolate coconut haystacks.
Any help by direction to a website or recipes would be a huge help.
Ginn! Let me send you a couple of recipes I've used for big crowds. One question: in the frozen food section of your grocery store, have you ever seen gnocchi, cavatelli, or tortellini? Gnocchi is a potato, semolina, or riccota dumpling; cavatelli is another pasta. You probably know what tortellini is.
ReplyDeleteHey Ginni - did you see Pioneer Woman's rum cake today? I make the same thing only with Amaretto. And I don't use a bundt pan ('cause I don't have one) but a flat pan. It's delicious! I'm going to try her glaze next time too. It's easy, cheap and delicious. Give it a try.
ReplyDeleteMy new favorite Christmas cookie is chocolate peppermint. Made a batch last year, making a double batch this year.
