I haven't been very faithful to doing GTS, so I thought I'd post a rose I love today. She's called Dainty Bess and is a single rose. I'm more of a traditional rose lover and never cared much for singles until this rose came along. And there's nothing "dainty" about her...she's hardy, the blooms are huge and she's lived thru horrid weather, little care and loads of weeds! She's a tough rose, nothing dainty about her except for her name! She is the most adorable shade of pink and has magenta "eyelashes" (actually they're called stamens).

Wonderful picture of DB. Nice work, Ginni. Are you having a great fall flush right now?

This is a "file photo" Sis! I would be too embarrassed to show photos of my roses right now...or should I say weeds!! Remember the story of the secret garden? Well mine looks like the "before" in that story! Alas, this was another summer of neglect in my rose beds. Other things took precedence. They got great treatment in the spring and then sort of just got forgotten. I am getting some great huge rose blooms now tho...that's the best thing about roses, they survive neglect!
ReplyDeleteThat is a pretty one. I'm more of a cabbage rose lover - like Abe - but I can see the attaction of that. It would be a pretty climber.
ReplyDeleteYour Dainty Bess reminds me of a refined hibiscus - very delicate and proper. And I agree with you, that pink is delicious. Enjoy your fall flush!
