Movie was cute!

Beverly Hills Chihuahua

What a cute movie and oh my! how Andy and I recognized some of the Chihuahua characters! (Rosie has multiple personalities!!) Chihuahua's have this Mighty Dog attitude that's funny when you consider their size and frailties. We laughed so hard when the dogs on the screen explained why Chihuahua's shiver...it's not for the entertainment of people but because they have souls!!

Through a comedy of errors, a sweet little pampered Chihuahua named Chloe gets lost in Mexico and goes thru a lot to try to get home and back in her easy, opulent life. There are quite a few critter characters that are so cute. Papi is a male Chihuahua who is in love with Chloe and ends up being the hero of the movie. He reminded me of Rosie, the way he looked. There are many endearing dog characters and a rat and iguana that hang out together. The humans are real and the critter are mostly real with animation making them talk and do stunts. I couldn't believe the list of famous people who did the voices...Drew Barrymore, Placido Domingo, Andy Garcia, George Lopez, Cheech Marin among others! It was an entertaining movie with a good, happy-ending story. But of course, I'm easily entertained. (Keep this in mind if you go see the movie!! haha)

If you're a kid at heart, have a dog (especially a Chihuahua) and like them, or just need a break from reality for 90 minutes...you should see this movie!

It was fun, light and funny. I will probably buy it when it comes out in video.

One other thing, there was a disclaimer at the end of the movie about the responsibility of owning a dog and that it should be a lifelong commitment. I remember when the Dalmatian movies came out people couldn't wait to get Dallies, thinking they were great pets and smart and probably could talk!! There ended up being too many backyard breeders breeding poor quality dogs and selling them to people who didn't keep them. The kennels were full of Dalmatians that were given up for adoption because when the newness wore off and people realized they were saddled with a high-energy dog that sometimes didn't have the best personalities... they were dumped. Sadly a lot of dogs had to be put to sleep but there were lots of Dalmatian rescue facilities too.

So, I was glad to see that disclaimer at the end of the movie. Chihuahuas aren't the easiest of dogs to own sometimes...but they can be wonderful pets when they are really wanted and cared for properly...including good training!! But it breaks my heart thinking of lots of little dogs like Rosie getting homes, then being dumped because the people decided they really didn't want a dog after all.

  1. Good advice Ginni. (Wow! 1:01 a.m.!! I see you're still not sleeping well. Thank God for the internet, eh?) I want to see this movie too. I think movies should *entertain*. I don't go to a movie for enlightenment for cripe's sake. Glad you enjoyed this one.

  2. Thanks for the review. I don't know if we'll make it to the theater, but maybe we'll rent it when it comes out.

  3. People should have to take a test to be dog owners.

Every dog is a potential treasure if folks just put in the time & the love.

Great movie review - We'll be going to see it!

  4. I cannot understand people who adopt a dog or cat and then get tired of it and dump it at the pound. I'm glad they put that disclaimer in at the end of the movie. I've always thought it would be neat to adopt a grey hound.

    love you!

Ruth, you're a dog lover, you should see it. It's very cute.

Brad, I love what you said! Every dog is a potential treasure. It's too bad they aren't all treated that way!!

If I lived in the country Fiwa, I'd adopt a greyhound, I think they are so cute!! Yes, that spider is supposed to be Halloween-creepy!!! Glad it's working...LOL
