Still Life With Chickens
starting over in a house by the sea
By Catherine Goldhammer.

It reminded me so much of a few of my fellow bloggers.
First it reminded me of dawn and I truly hope she reads it, if she hasn't already! She just moved to a new house, to start a new life with her daughter (that includes chickens and perhaps a son or two) and that's what this book is about.
Then it reminded me of Fiwa. She just told me that she found out she can have 3 chickens where she lives. I hope she goes for it! And I know Fiwa loves and appreciates a good book! I hope she reads this one too.
I also thought of Sis when I read this. The relationship between this writer and her daughter reminded me what a good mom Sis is! She's a reader too, I think, and she would like this book.
I loved the way this book was written. It was like sitting down with Ms. Goldhammer and chatting over tea. I think of Ruth every time I enjoy someone's writing skills. I wish she'd read it too.
Another good mother who works hard at her relationship with her daughter is Cheryl, so I thought of her when I read this, too. She's a reader and I think she might like this book.
Anyway, this book was good, short and sweet and made me feel good. I like books like this. It only took me a couple hours of reading, altho it was a few days before I finished it. I've been so tired lately from all the work ...here at home and at work... and since I read at night when I lay down to go to sleep, when I'm tired, sometimes it's all I can do to read one page! Actually, it was one of those books that was almost too short. I didn't want it to end. I wanted to read more about the life Ms. Goldhammer and her daughter made in their little cottage by the sea.
Good morning! I'm going to go to my library's website to see if I can get a hold of the book. I love a good recommendation.
ReplyDeleteAs per your comment, how amazing that I have 3 pools to choose from. One in a gym that I foolishly bought a lifetime membership to 27 years ago and used only way back then, and the others that charge a nominal drop-in fee. The pools are a huge blessing, but I really do have to stop talking about it. Wait till I start talking about Christmas!
Aw, how can I resist reading this now?
ReplyDeleteThank you sweetie...I love you! I'll let you know what I think of the book.
XOXO
Thanks for the sweet support, Ginni - it means a lot to me.
I'll put it on hold at the library and think of you as I read it.
ReplyDeleteLove you, bughugger -

I'm glad you told me this review was here. I guess I missed it on blog sabbath. And thanks for the book recommendation, Ginni. I'm doing a taxing writing project right now, so a short, sweet book sounds great.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for the kind words about my writing.
