Another day with not much time...

...or much to say.

I am going to give Andy a hair cut this morning. I've been promising for days and he's getting a bit shaggy. He's always doing so much for me and this will save him a few bucks! I'm not licensed to cut hair but I've been doing it for years. It's a beautiful day out there today....69° and sunny! So we'll do the haircut on the deck. Easy clean up that way!!

I've been making more stepping stones, but they are the really easy kind. I brought back a big bag of beach stones from my trip to the cabin with the idea in mind that I'd get some Sacrete and get busy making some stepping stones to go in the new patio. It's a joint effort since Andy mixes the concrete for me and puts it in the forms and I do the artsy part and put stones in a design or a non-design in a mosaic-type way. We've done 5 of them in the past few days. I only have two forms, so it's not a very fast process. After a stepping stone is made, it has to sit in the form for about 24 hours or until it's getting dry. Then it has to cure for about 2 or 3 more days...just like regular cememt. But as soon as a new stepping stone is out of the form, I can re-use the form again. I've used up all the beach stones except for a small bag of them. And I have also used some other polished stones I had. I may have enough to make 2 or 3 more. I do have a lot of cut glass that I can use to make others, but the glass doesn't stay in the concrete as well as stones do. I have a lot I've made of glass that are years old and a lot of the glass pieces are missing.

I did make one glass mosaic this past weekend on an old rusty cast iron steak plate. Andy found this under his grill when he moved it (how it got there, I'll never know) I wanted something bright and cheery and hated to throw something this cool away (the rusty plate). Since the plate had a handle with a hanger hole on it, it just screamed to be made into something! I used glass pieces in grouting plaster. It worked out pretty well!! Now I'm looking for other old rusty cast iron pieces that I can turn into art!

Last night I managed to get all my photos printed that I'm showing in the fair. So I'm progressing slowly but surely.

Later on today, I'll go spend some time with my son. He's beginning to fail. I want to be with him as much as possible.

Then tonight, I have my annual bus driver's refresher course. It's a three hour class and there won't be too much new information...just the same old stuff. But it's mandatory to keep my bus drivers permit. I'll get to see a lot of my co-workers, so it's not all bad. And my boss teaches the class, so that's cool too.

I'm off to do a hair cut job. Have a good day, everyone!

  5. Love the stones, I save the big clear plastic deli lids from meat and cheese trays to use for forms. Works great! I've also heard you can use pizza boxes lined with a trash bag or plastic, never tried it, but good way to turn trash to treasure.

Good to see that sweet Rosie!

  6. I love those stepping stones! And everytime you step on one you'll think about the cabin and the trip with your sister. They are really beautiful. I like the cast iron doohickey too - that's really neat. Can you enter these things in the fair? They would win, I'm sure.

    lovins,
