My very first mineral makeup came in the mail today. I have been hitting eBay pretty hard since I decided I wanted to try minerals. I love it! It's so light feeling and pretty much fool-proof. I'd show you before and after pix, but I don't want to scare you to death. Well you may not be that scared, but you could probably hurt yourself laughing. I know most women consider makeup a major life necessity. Not me, I consider it a pain in the ass. I used to do the Mary Kay thing, but it's way too expensive and takes way too much of my playtime to use. I opted for the minerals for a couple of reasons. 1.) I disparately need it but only because my over-sunned skin is starting to look OLD...ACK! 2.) It takes only a few moments to apply it C.) I wanted it because some friends of mine raved about it. (I'm very easily enabled...it's a personality flaw of mine)
A few days ago, I used some of the Christmas money my dad gave me and bought a pen&tablet. I'm having fun trying to figure it all out. I have my first project to try on it, dad's map for his medication patches. He follows this map which shows where on his bod to place the patches everyday. This will be great. I'll be able to do a drawing that will be instantly made into a computer file. That way I can print a new map every time he needs one. It's a graphic artists tool and altho I'm not a graphic artist by any means, I'll use it to manipulate photos, do art work, etc. I will mostly use it to play around with. I don't know if I'll ever produce any worthwhile artwork on it, but it will be fun to try. Do any of you artsy-fartsies out there have one of these gadgets and if so, do you have any advice??
I got some new books the other day. The first one is You on a Diet by Oprah's Dr. Oz. Looks like it will be funny and I hope it gives me some new ideas. Since I've been on a perpetual diet for the past 35 years, I don't know if any books can teach this old dog any new tricks, but I keep searching.
I also got Blaze by Stephen King and his other new book Duma Key. I'm partway into Blaze and it's pretty typical. I just love the way King develops his characters. They almost come to life. He hasn't scared me since Pet Semetary, tho. Maybe I'm just getting jaded in my old age.
Not really toys, but Andy got us each a new pair of slippers and they arrived a couple days ago. I just love them, they are lined with lamb's wool that's so soft and warm. My feet have never felt this cozy! I usually just walk around barefoot or sockfooted and bitch about my feet being cold. Hmmm, suppose maybe that's why Andy got 'em for me?

One more thing that happened yesterday. Earlier this week, I missed out on the bid for an evening school bus route. I was a bit disappointed. Then as I was leaving work yesterday afternoon, I heard the gal who had outbid me due to her higher seniority saying she was so upset because the route was really difficult and all over the place, the kids were horrid and there was no bus monitor on this route. Whew! I'm so glad I didn't get it, even tho I thought I wanted it so badly! I definitely didn't need that kind of stress for just a couple hours more a week. Brings to mind an old Rolling Stone song..."You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find you get what you need"
Well, I have a little cute Chihuahua begging for some of my time, so I'm outta here for now. Hope you all have a great Wednesday and I hope your weather is as pretty as ours, but not as cold. It's sunny as a summer day...but only 7°!
Well, I can see why you need more time with all these toys (plus that darling Rosie, of course!). I'm looking forward to hearing how you find the mineral makeup.
ReplyDeleteHI!
ReplyDeleteI started using minerals a few months ago. So much easier! We sell it at my salon and the discount helps. I'm all for new toys. I'm sure I'd love the pen and tablet. I got to play with Bonnie's. It was a tease! Good news on the lost bus route. The song told the tale, as you pointed out.
Good day!
I love the new slippers. My, they look just Rosie sized, I can just see her climbing inside and cuddling up when you take them off!
ReplyDeleteBy the way Ginni - if you have a Sephora nearby, they sell the mineral makeup. I hate waiting for it to come in the mail.
Book report on your Stephen Kings please - i want to know if they're good before I go to the effort of putting them on my list at the library. Don't laugh - usually I'm 200+ on the list for putting books on hold.
v & i got some slippers like this at sam's on sale...and oh, girl they are warm.
ReplyDeletei need to try that mineral stuff, too.
