Well, today sometime, we should be getting a call that we can go pick up my new computer desk!
I'm firing the old one. It's done a pretty good job, but it's messy, everything is just out where it can be seen by the entire world (no subtlety here!) regardless of how neat I am, ahem, when I'm neat....and ...well, I hate to be cruel, but....it's just plain ugly! Make that plain AND ugly. At least Sarah was plain and tall...this desk is plain and small!! It's just a mass of flat surfaces with two of those CD storage towers that are a series of bent wires you slide the CD's into horizontally. I hate those things, talk about dust catchers!! ACK! They look horrible with CD's in them....and even worse without the CD's!!
In it's defense, the old one was purchased and meant to sit back in the den where no one could see it much, then Andy got rid of his computer. So it was hauled out here in the dining room to serve as my computer desk. It was to temporarily replace the huge monster of a computer desk that was taking up way too much space. I've been in the market for a new, more furniture-like desk for quite a while and just have had no luck.
Then Fiwa challenged us to post a photo of our computer workspace. She shared hers with us and it was lovely! All clean, neat and furniture-like! It re-inspired me to shoptilwedrop to find just the perfect desk! Andy was happy that I was back on the trail of a new desk once again.
Up until last Saturday, I had been having a terrible time finding the right size desk that was both functional and proper furniture to be seen from both the dining area and the living room. Something that was pretty, and that hid all my computer hardware and the other necessary clutter I have to have on/in my desk! I knew I either wanted a roll-top desk or a computer armoire. In my head I preferred a desk because of the size and the fact that the computer chair needs to sit in front of whatever I get...it would look silly sitting in front of a closed armoire!
Anyway, after a long, long shoptilwedrop session this past Saturday, I finally found the perfect desk at the end of the trail. We had run out of stores to shop in...luckily they had the one I wanted...the one that will fit in the space we have...the one that will look like a nice piece of furniture, rather than the plastic-coated, pressed-board, CD-towered, clutter-showing, sorry-excuse-for-furniture desk we have now.
I'm excited.
Thought for the day...
"Shop 'til you drop!"
Me Last Saturday
