Christmas decorations up yet?

This morning at work we were talking about the fact that so many people have their Christmas decorations up and the lights turned on already!

How about you? Are you the type who can barely wait to get the Christmas season off and running or do you barely get things up in time for the big day?

I'm a collector of Nativity scenes and last year I got my first Fontanini pieces. Since I bought a new creche, the other day at Hobby Lobby, to go with one of my other sets, I just had to get it all out and set it up! So my house (inside) is beginning to look a lot like Christmas! But the tree, outdoor decorations and my snowman collection will have to wait until the weekend of Thanksgiving...I'm a season pusher to a small extent, but not that much!!

Here's part of my 5" Fontanini set...I sort of went overboard buying pieces on eBay and in the religious stores around here after Christmas last year. It's fun to be a collector, but I tend to take it to the limits and beyond..it's that instant gratification thing!

This is a beautiful 5" Fontanini-like set I bought for a pittance on eBay last year. In fact, I bought two of them and am sending one to a dear friend.

Here's a lovely 7.5" set of faux Fontanini I got very cheaply, too. I only have the Holy Family in this set, but it's so pretty!

And this is a set I don't have yet, but just ordered from the Catholic Supply store online, last night.

I sort of thought I better not get anymore Nativity stuff this year, but I couldn't resist. It's similar to Fontanini but isn't...this set is regularly $250 but is on sale for $49.97 plus shipping! It's an online only deal. These are 12" tall and will sit on the floor next to/under my Christmas tree.

I know, it's pretty early for blogging about Christmas, but it's what was on my mind this morning.

Thought for the day...

"...keep Christmas in your own way, and let me keep it in mine."

  1. Ack! Blogger is trying to piss me off today. Every time I type a comment I get an error msg. Hmpf.

I don't decorate the outside of our house because we don't have an electrical outlet in the front. Can you believe that? It's too much effort anyway. ;)

I would put my tree up the day after thanksgiving if Clarke would let me, but he usually makes me wait till the first weekend in December. Party pooper.

Your creche sets are gorgeous - so elegant looking. My decorations end up looking more like Charlie Brown and Lucy went on a wild Christmas binge in my house. ;)

    Happy day!
