You don't know what you've got, until you lose it!

Specifically speaking...we don't appreciate our cars until something goes wrong with them.

My little Dodge Stratus's battery died of old age today. I've left my poor little car at the bus garage overnight. Even our mechanics couldn't do anything about it. Luckily it's in a locked up, fenced area with security lights all around, but it's in sort of a bad neighborhood. I hope it still has all it's parts, working or not, when we get it towed tomorrow morning!

But have you ever noticed how we tend to take for granted all the things we need the most? Cars, running water, working toilets, air conditioning, televisions, electricity....you know what I mean! I'm sure you can think of a ton more things that we expect to just work when the key is turned, the switch is thrown, or the handle is cranked! But then when they don't work, it totally throws our life into a very inconvenient tizzy.

Losing the use of one of our main gadgets can be a very humbling experience. Where are my horses when I need them?? I could get the old bike out and ride it to work tomorrow, but I guess I'll opt for using Andy's truck. Maybe I should get used to riding the bus! There's a great idea, I'd be saving a lot of money on gas, altho I'd be sort of tied down to their schedule and I'd have no way to run errands between my school bus A.M. and P.M. routes.

I don't think I should take my car for granted ever again.

I think I'll treat her to a little shot of gas treatment, or maybe some new floor mats and seat covers. Oh, I know, I'll get her a new steering wheel cover! She'll love that!

Thought for the day...

"If this car were a horse, I'd have to shoot it!"
