Now that fall has fallen...I wish the temperatures would too!

For some reason I have always had tons of garden projects to do in the fall. I guess it's the nice weather and cool temps that lure me out into the wilds of my rose beds and to my garden shed, which is usually bursting with projects, both new and half-finished! The problem is, the temperature is 95° right this minute...midwest, 4pm, 23 Sept. 2007! Too damned hot for garden projects!

I've had a photo from a garden forum's "garden junk" page that I've saved for a long time, just waiting for the stuff I need to complete the project! I don't know who to credit for this photo, but it's the coolest thing! It's a garden bench made from an old head and foot board from a single bed. Isn't it the cutest thing!

Well, lo and behold, about 3 weeks ago, I gleaned this (and another one exactly like it) from someone's garbage (blush) for this pending project that's been in my head for almost 2 years!

I like the style of the head/foot board in the other guy's bench better than the one I got...but beggars can't be choosers! And I've looked at tag sales, garage sales, flea markets, antique shops and everywhere you can think of trying to find the wooden parts of an old bedstead for this project! I'm not above saving some neat piece of stuff from the trash, and at least I didn't have to pay for this pair! And now if the weather would just cooperate, and cool off, oh, say 30°, then I could get busy on this bench and maybe get it done before the snow flies! It would be nice to get to sit in it a time or two before winter!

Anyway, stay tuned for updates on the garden project! Cool weather has to be just around the corner...doesn't it?

Thought for the day...

Waste not, want not.
