I love little roses but they don't make very good soup!

I went out to cut a bouquet of roses yesterday and the best roses I had were my mini roses. They are so sweet and little. I took a bouquet of pretty, sunny, peachy Sam Trivitt minis into the house with me and they're just so cheery!

The weather is so cool today, it's in the low 70's and set some records locally in the wee hours of the morning, this morning. The record was 39° and it hit 38° in the early dawn hours today. Not quite low enough to freeze and kill the mold and pollen in the air (AAaaachooooo!) But it sure made it feel like fall!

In fact, it felt like a chili day! I made a big pot of it today. Yum, talk about comfort food! Soup is the best at warming the cockles of your heart on cool fall day! And "no" I didn't put any roses in the soup!

Thought for the day...

"An idealist is one who, on noticing that a rose smells better than a cabbage, concludes that it will also make a better soup."

H.L. Mencken (1880-1956)

  1. Hey Ginni-girl, just checking in to say hello. I love that sweet little bouquet, so fresh and pretty. Can you please tell me that Rosie doesn't actually pick up her toys and put them back in THE BASKET?!?! If you did manage that, can I ship you my Bitsy for a week for puppy-boot-camp??

Enjoy that chili and stay warm!
