Alone with cherries, Robin Williams and a lap full of Chihuahuas

I vant to be alone!

Well, Andy just left on a trip to go visit his family in southern Indiana. His step-grandson is graduating from high school and going in the National Guard in a short time. Andy is going down for the party Saturday. It's about a 7 hour drive. He was dreading the drive but wanted to see son and his family. I wanted to go but we were a bit worried about the dogs. They are social misfits and have an explosion of barking fits if they are around strangers. To have them that way for four days is way too hard on our older dog...not to mention anyone within earshot. She's been having seizures once in a while and the stress would probably be too much for her...we worry about them like they were our kids or something! So since I'm a bit of a social misfit myself these days...not quite my bubbly, happy self due to my self-imposed changed employment status...ahem, retirement...I opted to stay home with the dogs. I kinda want some alone time anyway...time to lick my wounds (boy, am I getting boring with this retirement pity party I'm having or what????) and just do what I want with no one worrying about me!

You just can't take us misfits anywhere!

Besides, I have a couple of family obligations this weekend myself. Friday a haircut appointment and some sister time. There's a family meeting on Saturday and my nephew's birthday party Saturday too. But today is mine...all mine! (Insert evil laugh here)

Cherries

I had cherries for breakfast this morning. Yep, cherries. Just cherries. I ate them until they were gone. Well, the bing cherries that is. I still have some Rainier cherries left, and I'll probably eat them tomorrow. I just love cherries!!

Robin 'n Me

This is the first ME day I've had in a long time. No obligations...nothing to do, now that I've seen Andy off, and no one else holding the remote control for the TV! I am going to watch a movie, I think.

I have The Bird Cage out and ready to go ..a take off on Le Cage Aux Folles that stars Nathan Lane and Robin Williams. I have see this movie a bazillion times, and am anxious to make that a bazillion and one! It's hilarious and so much fun!! If you've never seen it, I highly recommend it! Nathan Lane is brilliant as the gay partner of Robin Williams...Robin ain't too shabby either. Hank Azaria is perfect as the gay housekeeper, Agador, from Guatamala...he pronounces it Whatamala. I never knew he was that talented a comedian before this movie!

Chi's

I'm going to go sit in my recliner, kick back with my journal in hand (I can't just sit and watch TV or movies at home...always have to do something else too!) and watch my movie. Both dogs will want to sit on my lap, but that's okay, there's room for both of them.

Then after the movie, I may just take a nap...watch another movie...or transplant some hostas. Maybe I'll splurge and do all three!

Or perhaps...well, that's the beauty of a ME day...I can do whatever I damned well please!

  1. Sorry you're feeling a little 'off' about the retirement and hoping you'll adjust to your new found freedom! At least you indulged in something healthy like cherries, as opposed to chocolate covered ones (now there's an idea!!) Enjoy your alone time.
