Oh Brad, I tried...

...to do that watercolor. And I didn't do too bad. I just wish I had as good of control of my colors as Anita does. Here's the picture I painted in watercolor about 2 or 3 years ago, using that one in the blog post before this one as a model. I got a blue ribbon and best-of-show with it...but I never thought it was all that!

I'm learning and seem to be having fun doing it. I just started taking a watercolor class at the local college. It's a ...ahem...senior program class and it's only 4 sessions, but it's fun! It's for beginners. I've done a few decent watercolors, but mostly I stink at it. I've always been afraid of the medium for some reason. Probably too many bouts with "MUD"!

Here's another one I'm going to try to re-do. The original (the one in this photo) was ruined in our flooded basement last spring. I had promised to give it to a friend. After showing it at the fairs, I put it in a box and forgot to send it to her. I wish I had remembered. She hasn't spoken to me since. I'm not sure if it's about the painting or something else.

That was a fun one to paint. I had to have a glass of wine in front of me to use as a model. Heh..heh..heh.

I seem to have an obsession with pink roses, don't I?

  1. It's not hard to have an obsession with pink roses!

Oh, Ginni. How you make me want to take up watercolors again. I used to take classes from my boss's mother-in-law. She'd hold 8 week sessions with a small group -- usually no more than 4. It was GREAT. But then, she stopped giving the classes. And I stopped painting.

  2. I like wine and roses, too. I've been sitting here playing with the penguins and turtles! What neat widgets!

  3. I like both of them, Ginni. It's too bad the one was ruined.
