Before Thanksgiving I bought an Amaryllis bulb. I forgot I had it and it didn't get planted in time to bloom for Christmas. It's about to pop, but I can't remember what color it is or what it's name is. So when it blooms, it will be a surprise! I love floral surprises! I'll show you when it opens.

Wow, yesterday I had major blog withdrawal!! I was determined NOT to post, just to prove to myself I could do it! Sorry if I missed your blogs yesterday, I'll catch them next time around. I just stayed away from all blogs.
My amaryllis is dark red and has been blooming continually since early November. I just keep cutting the bloom stalk off after the flowers wither. I'd be willing to bet your amaryllis is a lighter color than mine. Why? The foliage (at least on the blog) looks lighter. Can't wait to see the picture!!!
ReplyDeleteI also have a clivia (I always giggle when I say that:) )that is bright orange and magnificent. It hasn't sent up buds, yet, but I'm expecting them at any time. I'll post photos when it blooms.
Ooooo...I'm on my way to look up "clivia" (giggle) to see what they look like. I've never heard of that before!! I've been wracking my poor old brain to try to remember what color this Amaryllis is and I saw some at the store I where I got this one and they were white with red streaks. I'm not sure if that's what this one is or not.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to remember to cut the stalk off after the bloom withers, I'd love it if it bloomed more than once!! Thanks for the tip!! I have never grown an Amaryllis before that I can remember. Thanks Kathy!!
One of these years I should grow one of these. I'll look forward to seeing yours.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't I have an amaryllis? Probably because of the foliage you have to live with when it's out of season? No, probably just because I've never bought one. No, because my father has a table full of pots of floppy long-earred foliage. OK. I'm done rambling.
ReplyDeleteAnd I think your's will be red.
Ya know... This pic is lovely in itself. Very nice photo. I love the stalks. So straight and strong. I think it will be one of those that are whitish with red or pinkish lines in it. (I'm not making this up. There are some like that! ha!) I can't wait to see what it looks like! ac
ReplyDeleteLOL I purposely didn't blog yesterday, too, Ginni, just because I didn't have too!
ReplyDeleteXOXO
Will be interesting to see what your colour is and how many blooms. How strong minded you are , find it hard to stay off the computer , blogs and email.
