Saturday

Thank God it's the weekend!

I'm supposed to go to a union meeting this morning but I'm going to opt out! It's the nomination meeting for the new officers for the next year. I want no part of being an officer!! I have been asked time and time again and just don't have any desire to deal with people's problems at my work place. If I went, I'd be nominated and it's hard to say no! Besides, I've done my time being officers in organizations I've belonged to, it's time for younger people to step up and do it now. Maybe that's a cop out, but I'm trying to de-stress my life after the last couple years we've had at home. Being a union officer is NOT my idea of de-stressing!! I wonder if my sister G is going, she belongs to the same union local I do.

So instead, this morning, I'm going to run errands. I am going over to Iowa to get gas in my car...Iowa has lower prices due to less taxes paid per gallon of gas. Last time I filled up, I saved .40 per gallon. Then we have to pick up a few things at Wallyworld and then go to the farm store for chicken feed. My sister M mentioned having lunch together so we can plan our Thanksgiving meal and decide who's bringing what. She's having the meal at her house this year, again. She has a beautiful house and lots of space. I'm going to give her a call to see what the plan for lunch is, then we're on our way!

Well, I'm going to finish my tea and we're off and running. Have a great day everyone!

  1. Good for you, Ginni, for deciding not to do the officer thing. It's so hard to say no sometimes.. Have fun with your Sis.

  2. Stick with the idea of de-stressing! You can drive to Iowa??? Wow! How long does that take? I filled my tank this morning at Costco and paid 1.91 for regular. High test is 2.07. It's warm here and rainy (about 65), but supposed to get cold by Tuesday.

  3. Right on with the de-stressing. I quit the committee/officer stuff years ago and remain very picky about how I spend my time.
    No regrets.

    Have a wonderful day, Gin!

    (PS I filled DD's tank for 1.89 a gallon.)

  4. There's a little convenient store off the beaten path that is the cheapest we've found so far. But Sh-h-h-h-h-h-h-h, it's the best kept secret around! There are always cars there but it only takes a couple minutes of waiting to get gas. If everyone around here knew about it, there would be lines around the block! I paid $1.87 today per gallon. It cost me only $20.00 to fill up and my tank was pretty low!

Kathy I live on the Illinois side of the Mississippi river, Iowa is just across the river from me. I can see it from the bluff we live on. It's only a 10 minute drive to this convenient store. If you look at a map, I live just 4 miles south of where I-80 crosses the Mississippi.

Ruth, we had a great lunch...sis even picked up Dad. It was all of us but one sister who had to work.

Joan, I am getting picky about my time too. I guess that comes with the wisdom of maturity, eh? You and I both know how precious time is!!
