Just stuff

Whoa!

The HUGE egg was just two yolks! But they were both gigantic yolks! It was more than enough for one of us for breakfast yesterday.

Doe!

While I was on my way home from work the other day, I witnessed two white-tail deer doing the "wild thang". I was going to take some pix of it all, it's not something you see everyday, but by the time I got the car turned around and the camera out, this is all I got. The doe is lying on the ground in a soybean field and the buck is standing there looking a bit dazed. This wasn't a great shot, I just had my little Canon that takes pretty bad zoomed photos....but if you look really close, you can see the cigarette in the buck's mouth.

Snow!

It snowed here yesterday. There was quite a bit of snow coming down a few times but nothing stuck. Once again, I tried to take photos, but it was impossible to see the snow, even as hard as it was coming down. I need to take my good camera once in a while, I guess.

NNnnnooooo!!!!!

We had a flood in our basement this past spring. I just recently realized that one of our Christmas ornament totes had been sitting in the flood water and Andy had set it up on something and I didn't know until the other day that it had been ruined with water. The tote is one of those soft plastic ones that has a zipper on it, so the stuff in it wasn't safe to be in water. It had cardboard dividers in it to keep each ornament in it's own little cubby hole. I decided to go thru them today and see if there were any worth saving. Well, the tote is still okay after a good washing and a hefty spritz of Lysol Spray, the cardboard is gone in the trash. It had all but melted but I can make new dividers pretty easily. And I was able to save about 1/3rd of the ornaments in the tote. Of course, I lost a few of my faves, but that's okay. I can replace them or go without them.

Trashed cardboard...

The ribbon hanger is ruined but very replaceable on one of my collection of Chihuahua ornaments...

I lost many of my silk rose ornaments, that I made...

These look bad, but a few were able to be cleaned up and saved...

Oh!

Rescued, cleaned and Lysol'd...2 of my hand-painted glass ornaments, 2 of my Chihuahua ornaments, our tree topper and tree skirt, altho the skirt needs to be washed, I hope it will go thru the laundry alright! And I was able to save a few of the old fashioned glass ornaments my friend from S. Carolina sent me. I also saved a couple with special meaning to me. One was an ornament I made that looked like one of my horses and one was Andy and my special 2nd year ornament. We get one every year.

  1. Double yolks (aren't they such a surprise!!), smoking deer (a national disgrace)(hasn't Ill. banned smoking in public places, yet?), and snow! It doesn't get much better than that! The first snow fall is always so special...I need to get a new camera -- am looking at Canons. Any suggestions?

  2. Hahahah Kathy...Cheryl is right, you are a funny lady!

If you're getting a serious Canon, I highly recommend the Rebel, if they still make it. I'm not sure what extra letters or numbers it has with the name now. I got one in June of 2005 and love it so much...mine is a Canon Digital Rebel XT 8MP. My little one is Canon PowerShot A460 and it's good for a purse camera and works so much better when you're not moving. I was driving in the last pix on this blog post and I have a hard time holding still while I'm taking a photo. I use a tripod when it's possible and that helps a lot.

I can hardly believe SNOW ~ I guess it is that time of year, huh? Last week we had temps in the '80s.

  6. You are funny! I didn't catch on to the rhyming thing right away. So the deer? That must have been a sight. I never smoked afterwards myself. I was always with non-smokers.

I need to be more careful with my ornaments. I have most of my Christmas stuff in plastic bins but it all needs to be in them. I'm so sorry that you lost so much. But, as you said, not all.

I love my Canon SD870. It's a great point and shoot. One day I'll have a SLR too. That toy will have to wait, though.
