It's November!!

It's hard to believe that November is here already!! And as usual, I'm not ready to give up summer yet! But that's okay, I know time marches on and there's no reason not to enjoy every season for it's own merits. I just hope we have a nice long fall. Winter weather started last year in November with a vengence and didn't let up until April. I hope it's not like this year!!

The Trick or Treaters came in huge bunches last night but they were done kind of early. We ran out of candy by 7:30pm and closed up shop then, but there hadn't been anyone for a few minutes and we could see no more kids coming down the street when we went out to turn off our Halloween lights. We got around 150 - 200 kids...a little less than last year. And a lot of those were little bitty kids...so cute!! Most kids were very mannerly but there was one high school aged chubby kid that Andy told me about who didn't react nicely when given candy.

It was Andy's turn at the door and we give out small candy bars. Andy handed a KitKat bar to this chubby kid and the kid snatched it out of Andy's hand, looked at it, rolled his eyes and made that huffing/sighing sound like he wasn't pleased. Andy said he almost snatched it back!

All-in-all, it was a fun night. We didn't make it thru the entire 7 hours of Ghost Hunters, but we recorded it and I'm watching it now as I type. I'll be taking down Halloween decorations while I watch this morning. Once a holiday is over, I like to clean up the place and get it back to normal. I'll leave out the scarecrows and other fall decorations. I can turn the jack-o-lanterns around so they just look like pumpkins. I didn't have any real pumpkins this year, they are all the plastic-but-realistic looking kind. Well, I did have real pumpkins that I grew in my garden this year, but I fed them all to the chickens. They loved them!! Pumpkin seeds are a natural de-wormer for chickens...that's why I grew them!

I have Dad-duty today and tomorrow, so I have to call him in the morning to be sure he took his morning medications and we'll go visit him this afternoon. I think we're going to take him to Red Lobster for lunch tomorrow. He loves RL and seems to enjoy getting out.

  1. I don't decorate a whole lot except for pumpkins and pumpkin scented candles, so my stuff is up until T-day.
150!! We had 20 tops and I have a lot of Reese's peanut butter cups left.
How many chickens do you have? Any roosters? Are they laying hens?
What a good daughter you are. Kathy

  2. Also, tell Andy I would have snatched that Kitkat back and told the kid to grow some manners!

  3. That is a lot of trick or treaters! I wonder if that kid huffed at everyone who gave out small candy bars or if he just doesn't like Kit Kat.

  5. You have access to a Red Lobster?! Damn - now I'm really jealous. LOL As usual, we had no one. That's OK. We don't need the candy lying around anyway. Can you believe the weather we're having? I should finish up raking today. Well - the first round anyway. We have six trees and get a LOT of leaves (that aren't all down yet). At least the weather will be decent. Like you, I *really* hope we don't have a winter like last. Yuck! Have a great rest of the weekend Ginni.
