The bedroom is cleaned out, made up and looking good. We were using it to store the things that needed to go into totes and that stuff is all put away now.
The game room/workout room/craft-art-puzzle room is looking good and very useful. I put together one of those fleece blankets while I was watching Amazing Race last night and it works great to be able to have a craft table in view of a TV. I don't like to just sit and watch TV and if I can accomplish something else at the same time, I'm happy.
The reason I say "pretty much done" is that we have one more little space to deal with. There's a little storage area under the steps that hasn't been organized yet but it will be this week. I still have a couple days off and plan to tear into it while I'm home. I don't go back to work until Wednesday!
We went shopping yesterday and bought our Christmas presents to each other a bit early. There was a great sale at La-Z-Boy (I always thought it was spelled Lazy Boy!) this weekend. They had two rocker/recliners for one low price...we took advantage of that sale and got a pair for the basement. They even threw in two protection spray/guarantees for the price of one! They spray the chairs with some sort of fabric protection and the chair is guaranteed for 2 years against all sorts of damage. If you don't use the guarantee within that two years, you get full credit for it toward merchandise in the store. Anyway, I was tickled at what we got for the money!
I also bought a new little space heater, one of those oil-filled ones, to help take the chill off downstairs. Our house is a split foyer, so half the basement is out of the ground, but it still gets kind of cool down there in the winter. It's been getting pretty chilly here at the past few days so that heater will come in really handy. That, and the fleece blankets and we'll be like bugs in a rug!
We spent the evening downstairs last night... reclining, watching TV and making blankets. Rosie even liked it! She was afraid to go down the basement steps until we started redecorating it. Then since we were down there so much, she got brave and decided that if she was going to spend time with us, she'd have to get brave and go down the steps. Now she does it like a pro!
I'm glad you got the project (almost) finished. Can't wait to see photos.
ReplyDeleteI'll take some photos soon...it's still just a little bit disorganized (read: messy! LOL) but that will be taken care of today! But just know, it's nothing fancy...just a cleaned up basement with a mish-mash of furniture in it!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see it too, Gin. You are some kind of workhorse, ya know? I am amazed at all you get done.
ReplyDeleteXOXO
Ahhh Sis, Andy is the workhorse, I'm just a little pony tagging along with him!!!
ReplyDeleteDon't ya love it when a plan come together?? such satisfaction!!
ReplyDeleteI love to be snug as a bug in the winter.
so now what??? More projects?
Arts and crafts??
You all are already enjoying the space, including Rosie!
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for inspiration...this is it. My basement isn't finished, but I have a habit of leaving piles on the floor. Not good. It needs to be cleaned up, and soon. When I posted today's video I saw that I had a basement video on YouTube. I didn't watch it, but I need to, for a reminder.
ReplyDeleteI have a recliner; I never sit in it. That's the bad news. The good news is that it's in pristine condition. And my point? I guess I need to do some arranging so I can use it!
It must feel soooo good to get that much accomplished! The recliner/rockers sound comfy! Did you get leather or fabric? My husband got me a lap desk so I can sit in my recliner and do my crossword puzzles and Sudoku more easily. Don't forget the pictures!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had your drive. You two whipped that project in to shape in short order.
ReplyDeleteBrave little Rosieetta..
