Journaling, more eggs

I love to journal when I'm traveling. I've always kept a diary of things that have happened on all the days we're away on a trip and keep track of all the fun things we do, meals we have, any incidences that happen while we are away. It's a way to keep all the things I do in memory. If I write them down, I can go back and remember the fun stuff.

My sister knows I'm this way and she gave me the coolest journal for my birthday ... a really nice pen and pencil set too. I tend to keep relevant ticket stubs, photos, and other tangible souvenirs that I try to paper clip into the journal. But, invariably, paper clips come off, and the stuff falls out of the journal. The journal she got for me has pockets for such things, an envelope built in as the back page and an elastic band around the back cover to use to hold things into the book. It's great!! This is how I would build a journal if I was a journal builder!

Sister Marsha (the journal gifter) had a Survivor party this past Thursday night and it was also our family September birthday party. My birthday, Marsha's, and brother Doug's birthdays are all in Sept. I got some great presents.

Sister Gloria gave me a Rachel Ray Garbage bowl. The good old " GB". I've always wanted one. She also got me a whisk, a pair of those great bamboo cooking utensils, a cutting board, salad tongs and salt and pepper grinders.

Besides the journal and pen set, Marsha also got me a book called "The Good Sister", a darling basket, Magnolia body spray and a wicked good smelling candle. Oh and a cute pack of note cards that have Mary Englebreit art on them and say "Happiness must be grown in one's own garden".

More Eggs...ho hum, eh?

The significance of this photo is that there are 11 eggs in this basket. Friday we got 11 eggs. We have 11 chickens. That means we got one from every chicken for the first time since they started laying! I was eggcited!!

P.S. For Green Thumb Sunday see the previous post...I got my days mixed up!!

  1. What cool gifts you got Ginni! You lucky girl. I had to laugh re: the "garbage bowl". That's what *used* to be called Texas Ware and I had a whole set of them at the nursing home. Only one has survived (they are plastic after all), and it's my go-to bowl. I remember we bought them at the local Coast-to-Coast store for probably $10/set. Man, if I could find these things again...*sigh*.

    "Eggcited" huh? Hee! Too cool.
