Gotta make hay while the sun shines!
Oh, one more thing. When we got home from the funeral service, we had a little gift waiting for us on the hen house floor! One of our girls laid her first egg. It was perfect, brown, a little bit speckled and tiny! I took some photos and will post one or two tomorrow! It couldn't have happened at a better time! I'm excited at the prospect of fresh eggs and that time is coming fast. Go girls!!
Here are pictures of our first egg! Isn't it the cutest, most perfect little thing! I don't think we'll eat it because it's so tiny and they were still eating chick feed (medicated) yesterday when this was laid. They were getting switched over to hen-layer feed and today they are finally completely off the medicated kind. I don't want to eat medicated eggs! So I'll blow it out and paint a picture on it. :)
Compared to a quarter

Compared to a store egg (the white one is the store egg)

I think our minds do that to us - make it a monster - so you're ready for it if it happens. Then, if it's not so bad, then you're ok anyway.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it went well, and I'm glad you got a little present upon returning home.
Love you -
