Green
I mentioned on one of the comments I made that green is my favorite color. You can imagine how pleased I was by this batch veggies from the garden!

I just had to take a photo of them.
We've been having a problem with blossom-end rot on our tomatoes and I figured if I were going to get any from the vines at all, they'd have to be green! So I see fried green tomatoes in our future!!
I've been freezing green beans and we can't seem to keep up with them! They are growing like crazy. Good thing we both love green beans! One of our favorite green bean recipes is so easy, it seems wrong to call it a recipe. Oh and it's very diet friendly and heart healthy!
Garlic Green Beans
In a large frying pan:
1 Tbls. extra virgin olive oil
3 large cloves garlic, crushed
A good big handful of whole baby green beans
Lightly saute until the beans are tender, taking care not to burn the garlic. Serve them with a twist of sea salt and there you go!
That's it! Easy, huh?
iTunes
I was downloading some songs from iTunes and I made a great discovery. I can also buy audio books from them, I didn't know that! Guess I'm as green as those veggies above! I've already got 3 of the audio books purchased and downloaded and they will come in so handy when I want to read but have to drive or wait in line or whatever! So far I have Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and two Janet Evanovich books...Wife for Hire and Naughty Neighbor. I'll be getting more as my budget allows. Some of the more popular authors are pretty pricey!
I also bought a TV show from iTunes to load on my iPhone. It’s an episode of “Doctor Who” from the sci-fi channel. It’s called “Blink” and my good friend Veronica put me onto it! It was so scary and very good so I had to buy it. Only a couple bucks for that! I’ll be filling my iPhone’s memory in no time, at this rate, video takes up way more space than the books! Ha! Jon would be proud! He was the iPhone guru and so is his friend Mike. This phone is one of the best things I’ve ever owned! The possibilities with it seem endless.

I've thought about doing audio books for when I exercise. I get so tired of TV. Actually, we have a couple of audio books from vacations, and I have used them on my iPod. I just mean I've been wondering about buying them from iTunes. Are the classics fairly reasonable?
ReplyDeleteI loved finding audiobooks on iTunes, too, but found them to be kind of pricey. So I switched to Audible and have been fairly happy with their service. Remember to listen to the sample (esp if you get classics that have different versions read by different readers). Enjoy your new collectible, Ginni ;-)
ReplyDeleteRuth, they are a bit pricey, especially for newly released books. I paid what I thought was a reasonable price for Pride and Prejudice...$8, and it was an unabridged version (they have many that are abridged...ICK!). By the time I paid postage on a book from Amazon, even a used one...I could easily have that much into it anyway...and this way I get it read to me! Haha
ReplyDeleteAnne, good advice about listening to the sample first, this Pride and Prejudice version I have is an English lady with quite a heavy accent. I can understand her pretty well, but I can see where that would get to be a problem if someone wasn't comfortable with listening to an accent! I'll check into Audible and see how they are. Do they download it onto your iTunes files in your computer? They have to be in iTunes for my phone to sync to them.
You know - the wrong reader can really spoil an audio book. And the right one can make a ho-hum book seem out of this world. I don't know if you've read it or not, but if you can find Eat Pray Love on audio - it is wonderful. The author reads it, and she has THE most beautiful and calming voice.
ReplyDeleteGinni... GREEN TOMATOES! Are you going to make fried green tomatoes?! Please, please take a picture of them and post your recipe if you do! That is one of my all time favorite foods, and I hardly ever get them because it's next to impossible to grow tomatoes up here.
I sure do miss Veronica... can't you talk her into starting a blog? ;)

I'm as green as your tomatoes when it comes to electronic stuff. Sounds like a good idea though..I think it would come in handy during my days with the parentals ;) I'll ck it out.
ReplyDeleteI have purposely avoided the iphone as I know if I pick one up I'll be hooked. I may just have to go peek this weekend. And I'm with fiwa, can you post a fried green tomoto recipe ? I've never had them.
ReplyDeleteXOXO to you sweets !
