But, I love my job and things will be fine once I shift gears from summer mode to school year mode. And I only work 4 hours a day...how hard can that be, right? Well, it's not hard, but it's stressful. I can handle that tho...stress seems to be the norm around these parts lately and I'm doing pretty well.
I hope I get the same route I had last year. It was so great...the special needs kids were the best and we had a great year.
Everyone thinks that being a school bus driver is sooooo hard and sooooo crazy...people tell me all the time..."It takes a special person to drive a school bus!" and "I don't know how you do it!" and "There's not enough tea in China to get me to do your job!" I just nod and get an innocent far-away look in my eye. I don't tell them that it's the best kept secret in the world. That it's the best job in the world. That it's fun and easy. It reminds me of the old commercial about making rice krispie treats. The poor bedraggled wife/mom puffs some flour on her face, tossles her hair and presents her family with a plate of easy-to-make rice krispie treats and they fawn all over her for all her hard work.
It's just best to keep 'em guessing!
The only thing wrong with being a school bus driver is that the summer pay sucks!
So hi-ho, hi-ho, it's off to work I go!
Wish me luck!
Hm. A bus driver, you say? Maybe I need to look into that! :)
ReplyDeleteWell, Ginni, I'm glad you have such a great outlook as you face another school year. It was a full and busy summer full of its stresses and heartaches. Here's to a great beginning!
ReplyDeleteHi Ho, Hi Ho - it's off to school you go!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to the work-a-day.
Maybe some time you'll post about the kids on your bus? Do you have the same kids day to day? Do you get to know them much at all?
I really love your upbeat attitude.
ReplyDeleteHope your first day back was wonderful! However, I'm glad I'm retired and get to sleep late every day. I worked for 38 years, and that was my idea of fun--sleeping in!

Nah, I still feel sorry for ya having to go back. I'm glad you like it so much - I would have thought being a bus driver would be tough work. Who knew?
