Plan of attack

I had just gotten out of the shower and was sitting down to the computer when Andy asked me what our "plan of attack" is for the day. He's a retired military man and uses phrases like that all the time. I wasn't sure how to respond. PLAN OF ATTACK?? That phrase got me thinking. Some days, especially in the summer when I'm off work, I don't want to attack the day, like I did in my younger days...I just want to softly melt with it and go with the flow. Guess that's what it's like to be an old lady, eh? I love the Enya song called "Lazy Days". Here are the lyrics to the song with a link to a YouTube video of it:

Lazy Days by Enya

Lazy old day
Rolling away
Dreaming the day away
Don't want to go
Now that I'm in the flow
Crazy amazing day

One red balloon
Floats to the moon
Just let it fly away
I only know
That I'm longing to go
Back to my lazy day

And how it sings and how it sighs
And how it never stays
And how it rings and how it cries
And how it sails away... away... away....

Well, I'm going back to my lazy day and sit on the deck to read the paper. I think I'll even do the Jumble and Sudoku...hey, I'm not so lazy that I can't lift a pencil!!

Oh and by the way...Here are a few of my fair winners...forgive the crumby photos...It wasn't easy to get them very good in that setting!

Best of Show in the perennial division with this stem of Golden Stardust Lilies

Honorable Mention (That's second place in the entire photo division) with this photo looking out from our cabin at sunrise

Here's an Abe Darby bloom that surprised me by winning first place...you can see the rose, well the stem, of the lady's roses that wins EVERYTHING in the rose categories usually...she got second this time. The stems are so tall compared to mine, the rose blooms don't show up when I photograph my roses! Hahaha

I got second place with this Love and Peace bloom. You can see the tall stems on her roses on either side of this one. She got first and third.

I loved this one (if I do say so myself!) and plan to do more...maybe even today. I painted a watercolor on a blown out egg shell. I fill the egg shell with salt to give it some weight and plugged the hole with wax. I bought a dozen blown out araucana pale green small egg shells on eBay a while back to use for my Pysanky eggs and had this bright idea when I saw the category "non-canvas" art. It got a first place. I'll try to take a better photo when I get it home (IF it makes it without breaking!!)

Here are my daylilies that swept the huge class. I think everyone and his brother brought a daylily or two. I took 5 different entries. They had to use another table for all the daylilies entered.

First

Second

Third

These are two of my favorites...one took a first and one took a third.

There were loads more but I don't want to bore you to death! I think I placed in 26 categories between the photos, art and flowers....SO FAR...there's still one more flower show Saturday I plan to enter...IF I can and depending on what happens with Jon.

  3. Congratulations on your prices. Especially for the painted egg-that impressed me.

Thanks for your comment about macadamia nuts. I knew that they were poisonous, so I'm very, very careful. I carry the nuts around in a napkin so no crumbs drop.

  4. You give me hope for that day, when I will not feel this miserable compulsion to "attack" my day. I want soft melting, too. I like that.

Is there anything you can't do???

I'm as proud for all your ribbons as if I won them myself. You rock!

Now who is that first daylily? kind of reminds me of my Paper Butterfly but I think you've got more purple in yours.

    Congrats woman!!

  8. Thanks everyone, you make me blush!

Jackie, that daylily is called Emperor's Dragon. It's got a huge bloom, maybe the biggest I've ever seen.

I'm behind on my blog reading too, and always feel so badly about that.
