Show Us Your Mug...Mug-Down In A Rose

Show Us Your Mug…

I was reading Anne’s blog and I just had to join in the fun of “showing us your mug”. I saw that Sis had participated and I couldn’t resist. So here are my mugs…

First is a mug I got at the souvenir shop at the amusement park on Lake Okoboji in Iowa. That’s where our cabin is and where we’ve been going since we were kids. Andy and I both have one.

The second one is the one I use for hot cocoa in the winter. I NEVER use this mug in the summertime! It’s a winter mug.

The third one is the one Andy always puts things in for me, when he brings me a cup of tea or milk or whatever. I think that’s so sweet!!

Then there’s number four, which is a toile cup from a set I rarely use. I seem to have these only to display. Nothing fancy, but toile goes with my kitchen and I love toile!!

This is also part of a set we use for good. I no longer have fancy, feminine china it all got lost in the flood of our basement years ago. The boxes got soggy and so much of it got broken, I threw it all out. I wish I had saved them... nothing for me these days but the sturdy utility china. I am in the market for some of the more feminine stuff but first I have to find a place to display it!

Number 6 is my favorite. It actually belongs to my son and we don’t use it. It’s in my curio cabinet with all my collectible pieces. This is a photo of my grandson when he was five years old. I had it put on a mug for my grandson to give his dad for father’s day that year.

Mug-Down In A Rose...

I picked a couple roses yesterday. I couldn’t resist. I snapped them off close to the bloom and just floated them in a bowl.

I love these two roses…they both smell sooooo good! I could just fall face first into either of them!

The first one is Eglantyne. It’s a David Austin English rose and it smells like heaven. I just adore it’s cotton candy pink and the form of the bloom. It’s so blousy and lovely. I’m a sucker for pink roses!

This one is Sharifa Asma…another David Austin English rose. It’s a pretty baby pink. I just love pink roses and this one is probably one of the most fragrant. It’s scent wafts across the garden, reminding me that it’s there and that I should stop and put my nose into it often.

Both blooms had a tiny bit of rain left on them from the storm we had in the morning. The tiny drops look like shards of diamonds.

I thought I recognized Eglantyne. I just adore that rose.

And since we've been talking about irises of late, I have some of my current blooms posted.

  4. Brad, I wasn't up late, I was up early. LOL I had gone to bed at 9pm to read and fell asleep early. I woke up at midnight and thought I'd get my blog done, then back to bed! I have some weird sleeping habits!

Anni, I love your blog. So much interesting stuff!!! And thanks for visiting mine!

Ruth, I loved that photo too. My sis took it of my grandson peeking thru the bottom window in the door into her house from the breezeway. Eglantyne is becoming a favorite. I had forgotten I even planted it until it came back after this winter. It's fragrance is wonderful and I just love the color and form! I'll have to come see your irises.
