Randomness

Fiwa put up a Meme on her blog that I thought was pretty interesting. It’s called The Friday 10. You get out your iPod and play a random list of songs. Post them and show everyone your taste in music. Mine is pretty messed up but I like to call it “Eclectic”. I absolutely love music and the only music I have ever heard that I wasn’t crazy about was a particular Hungarian folk song a friend sent me on a tape once (Sorry Gyula!) and I heard a song in a Chinese restaurant once that sort of hurt my ears…it was “Come On Baby Light My Fire”, an instrumental version, played on a Japanese koto.

Anyway, I am going to do this Meme since I love music so much. Please don’t be too hard on me. I just love all sorts of music!! Here are my random selections from my iPhone.

1.) Nessun Dorma by Paul Potts (this one makes me weep..if you have time watch the whole video, I guarantee it's worth it!)
2.) Landslide by Smashing Pumpkins (I have at least 3 different versions of this song)
3.) Que Onda Guero by Beck (Hey, Guero!)
4.) No Diggity by Blackstreet (Love this band! This song is a classic!)
5.) Angeles by Enya (A truly beautiful song)
6.) Carnival by Natalie Merchant (A truly great singer)
7.) Candy Shop by 50Cent (Yeah, I have my ghetto side)
8.) I’ll Take You There by The Staple Singers (My fave gospel group)
9.) Kokomo by The Beach Boys (oh yeah! I wanna go to all these places!)
10.) Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy by Bette Midler (Bette…the Divine Ms.M…the YouTube site I linked is from her concert. My sis Marsha took me to that one for my b’day. Whatta talent! Bette’s not bad either. Ha )
11.) Brick House by The Commodores (come on, dance with me, you know you want to!)
12.) Welcome To The Jungle by Guns and Roses (Sing it to me Axel! Slash looks like Cousin It on drugs!)
13.) O Holy Night by Luciano Pavarotti (I love Pavarotti)
14.) Seasons Of Love from the RENT Soundtrack (Such a great play…sad too..this song makes me cry because I think of all the people who have died of AIDS)
15.) No Woman, No Cry by Bob Marley and the Wailers (okay, no more cry)
16.) Hips Don't Lie by Shakira (OMG, I'd love to be able to move like that! She's so damned pretty too!)

I did what Fiwa did and linked the songs to YouTube so you can listen to them if you want.

Okay, I know I went overboard on the number of songs. Wow, I haven’t listened to some of these for a while. It’s nice to hear them again…but I just kept playing and playing! Sorry. But it’s my blog and I can mess with the rules if I want to so there! Come on…join Fiwa and me and play. It’s fun!!

  1. This is really a good meme - it's changed my take on a blogger or two, I know we shouldn't make assumptions about each other but there some picks that each participants has made that have kinda blown me away. It's refreshing to have your norms scrambeled.

  2. Very cool, Ginni. I'm going to do this one tomorrow, but I'm adapting the rules a bit.

P.S. I'm doing a version of "No Woman, No Cry" too. I knew I wanted to choose that one instantly when I saw what this meme was about, and then I saw it on your list. Mine is by a different artist. Isn't that a hoot?

  3. Ginni! How fun! I love your list. I know a good many of them and want to add to my playlist, and the rest I'm going to go listen to. I'm waiting till Saturday and listenting to all the ones I don't know - so I can go buy the ones I like all at once.

And you've suckered me once into watching that top video - I'm not falling for that again. That made me cry so hard. He's so earnest!

    Happy Wednesday!

  4. Ecclectic? Sheesh, Ginni, it's like walking into a music store after an earthquake and all the music's piled up in the middle.

  5. Nikkipolani LOL!
You know I think that's what happens when you get to our stage in life, cause you've been through so many "genres"!
