Today

It would have been my Mom's 86th birthday. She passed away when she was 61 yrs old and I still miss her every day. Her name was Laurie and she was so much fun. I learned a lot about fun from her. She was an artist, a teacher and a real socialbutterfly. She was as friendly to a bum on the street as she was to a high society matron. She loved people and could talk your leg off. She loved an adventure and many times would take off on a trip to anywhere and take all the back roads.

Mom, Happy Birthday. I love you and miss you.

The song "Think of Laura" makes me think of her and I cry every time I hear it...the lyrics

Think of Laura
by Christopher Cross

Every once in a while I'd see her smile
And she'd turn my day around
A girl with those eyes
Could stare through the lies
And see what your heart was saying

Think of Laura but laugh don't cry
I know she'd want it that way
When you think of Laura laugh don't cry
I know she'd want it that way

A friend of a friend
A friend to the end
That's the kind of girl she was
Taken away so young
Taken away without a warning

I know you and you're here
In every day we live
I know her and she's here
I can feel her when I sing

Hey Laura, where are you now
Are you far away from here
I don't think so
I think you're here
Taking our tears away

  1. What a nice tribute and remembrance of your dear mother. I heard this song recently though it's a rare occasion.

  2. Your mom sounds like she was a wonderful lady. And it also sounds like you've gotten some of her best traits.

I love that song - "Laura" - but I can't read the lyrics just now or I'll be crying.

Thinking about your and your mom today, Ginni.

    lovins,
