I stayed home sick
Cause I feel like ick
Gonna make this quick
Hope you'll get a kick
Out of all this schtick
My throat feel thick
And my guts feel slick
Head feels like a brick
Got a nervous tick
Like a day old chick
Tongue's too sore to lick
On this popsicle stick
Need a magic trick
To repel this blick
I got pills to pick
So it's time to click!
Oh my poor dear - I hope your throat feels better soon. On the flight back, I was dismayed to hear the sneezing and cloggy coughs that seemed never to stop! Hoping you are on the mend!
ReplyDeleteI wanna rhyme back to you but you used up all the -ick words.
ReplyDeleteI'd say you need a good day of couch snuggle with an old movie.
Hope your better soon!
A tea of peppermint, or so I've heard tell,
ReplyDeleteMight help the ease the nasty spell.
Though now, I know, you feel like hell,
I hope, real soon, that you grow well.
Anne, I hope you don't get sick from the plane people. Whatever this is, is not very pleasant! It is, after all, the cause of my brain-addled rhyme! I've been sleeping a good share of the day but feel worse than before. My boss will be really upset if I have to miss another day of work. But my co-workers will be really upset if I come in sick!!
ReplyDeleteBrad, the way I feel I don't think I could concentrate on a movie. Well, of course if I watched one I've seen a lot of times, maybe!
Great rhyme Nancy! Thanks for the laugh today, I needed it!! I've been drinking lime iced tea all day...tonight I will try the peppermint tea!
'. . . guts feel slick'
ReplyDeleteA little too much information, I fear. I'll have that on my mind all night.
Get well soon, chick.
Hope you get over the ick
ReplyDeletereal real quick!
Well, sweetie, your brain is working just fine! :)
ReplyDeleteMalc...sorry about the flowerly poetic language. If you can call it that! Just concentrate on baby blackbirds and piglets!
ReplyDeleteNewt, I hope so too! I still feel like ick! But I had a few moments of feeling better this afternoon.
Ruth...when I re-read that, I'd like to think being sick was a great excuse for that horrible poetry. (I use the term "poetry" with reservations!)
Oh Gin I'm sorry you're sick. I had the flu for a month and a half this past winter and last month I got sick AGAIN. I figured I was good for at least a few years, but I got the sore throat/cold too. Fortunately it didn't last more than a week.
ReplyDeleteI hope the chicken soup helped and that you did have some nice peppermint tea!
hugs, Gin...feel better soon,
ReplyDeleteXOXO
Hope you're feeling better soon,
ReplyDeleteSickness is a pain.
All you do is lie in bed
And life goes down the drain.
There is an up side to being down,
I know that sounds quite odd
But while you're well you worry
When sick, who gives a sod?
Missing work is no bad thing,
That also makes a change.
But I wouldn't swap a day of grind
For a day of having mange.
You've just gotta see it through,
To let it do its worst.
You won't be sick for ever,
And soon your boils will burst.
So cough it up and blow it out.
See those scabs fall off your face.
Before you know it and all too quick
You'll be back in the rat race.
Get well soon. X
Thanks Jackie, I'm going to try to make that soup today. I've managed to ward off most of the colds this year with those zinc lozenges. The zinc didn't even come close to touching this one!
ReplyDeleteSis, I'm working on it. Hopefully soon!
Reg, I was moved to tears by your poetry. I'm almost embarrassed that I had the audacity to write such tripe when there are true poets reading my blog! You are a true inspiration! Thank you from the heart of my bottom!
Gin, dear, you've been tagged. Check out today's post on my blog. (It shouldn't be too taxing an assignment.)
ReplyDeleteWhile you're home sick,
ReplyDeleteyou should watch Riddick.
Not really a chick flick.
But it's got a girl sidekick!
Feel better soon!
Thanks Ruth, I just checked it out! Woooo, that's going to be a toughie. I have to give it some thought.
ReplyDeleteTink, I love your poem!!! I actually think Andy has that movie...I'll check it out. Tanks!
Hope you are all better! I played hooky on Monday, if it had been cold and rainy I may have been able to make it to work :). I rarely do that sort of thing, we are not that busy at work so no harm was done.
