Artist today is Utrillo

When I was a kid we had a Maurice Utrillo print hanging in our house. I always sort of liked it, altho his style isn't something I normally like. Art is supposed to make you feel emotion, in my opinion and his stuff definitely does that. So altho I don't have much desire to paint like him, I have great respect for his work. And he was like Toulouse-Lautrec in that he had a rather colorful existence. He was apparently an alcoholic that was about half-insane!

You can't tell it in his paintings, altho his colors sometimes get a bit rowdy! Nothing like V. Van Gogh however! (But that's another blog post!)

Here are a few of Utrillo's works. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a picture of the one we had in our home.

And something a little different and more in keeping with the theme of my blog...

I'm on the dreaded diet and today I re-discovered the most wonderful thing. I've had them before when I've been dieting but it's been a long long time ago. It's Morningstar Farms Spicy Black Bean faux-burgers! They are the tastiest most satisfying thing I've had on a diet since Weight Watcher's big fat fudgesicles!! I just might be able to do this! (I say that everytime I go on a diet and this is Diet #912!)

It's sort of hard to go into work when I know everyone else is off for Easter break...ooops, excuse me...it's not PC to call it Easter break anymore...I mean Spring break, as has been the case all week for me! I have to work today and early hours tomorrow and I'll be done until next Tuesday! The short break I'll get (whatever you want to call it) is much needed and looked forward to! But I must leave for work now, so I'm off.

Have a good afternoon!
