I tried to hook up a wireless connection. I got it to work on everything but my laptop. I will be calling tech support for that one. I can use it with my iPhone but my Apple laptop just won't work with it.
I got a bluetooth for my phone because talking on the cell phone while I drive is against my better judgment, so I figure if I am going to do it, I'll be as safe as possible. I finally got it to work too, but it took a while to get the phone to recognize the bluetooth and vice versa! Somehow I always manage to get the job done, but there are always glitches and always hair-tearing situations all along the way.
I am better at being a pioneer woman. All this new fangled techie stuff is way out of my league. I'd rather can preserves, make homemade jam, plant a rose, build a fence, do critter chores...all that farmy stuff! Too bad I don't have a farm anymore.

Speaking of critters, today I saved a mail carriers life. Well, sort of! I'm sure she thinks I did. I was in my school bus and saw a huge German shepherd viciously trying to attack a woman. I didn't realize until a bit later that she was a mail carrier.
She was using her bag to defend herself against the dog, keeping it between her and the dog. The poor lady was screaming and calling for help over and over. I honked my horn and distracted the dog who ran up on his own porch, and then called my dispatcher to have her call the police. The mail lady got up on one side of a duplex on the a porch and the dog was up on another. There was a wall between them. I scared the dog with the bus horn and I kept trying to call the dog over to my bus to get his attention on me so she could get to a safe place. It sort of freaked the dog out a bit, because he just stood on his porch looking like he had been a bad dog! He was a beautiful dog but I sure wouldn't want him after me!
Kids are so jaded these days. The only little boy on my bus at the time (a 6-year old special needs kid) let out a big sigh and said in an exasperated voice, "Geez, could we hurry up, I need to get home!" I almost laughed out loud at that one! Most kids would be all excited about seeing something like that! I wish I could have stayed and helped more, but due to time restraints and having a kid waiting at another school to pick up, I had to leave before the police got there, but I sure hope the cops finally got there and that the lady was okay. I made sure she was in a good place before I left, but you never know!
I was surprised at a couple of things. One, that the mail carrier didn't have mace or pepper spray or some other form of defense, or if she did, why she didn't use it. And two that she didn't know a huge German shepherd lived in that duplex. If I was a mail carrier, I'd get to know all the dogs on my route!!
I wouldn't want to be the dog's owner, they are going to be in big trouble!
Favorite Artist of the Week
I love to look at Salvador Dali's art. I don't know that I'd want it in my living room, but it's very compelling and I just want to study his paintings. He must have had a wild imagination and a great sense of humor! Here are a few of his more interesting paintings.

To prove he had a great sense of humor. Check out these photos of Dali himself!

good blog day!! love the dolly!
ReplyDeleteYou are too a techie! How do you like your iPhone? I'd be interested in knowing.
ReplyDeleteI loved today's post. A little of this and that.
Printers are my personal bugaboo - we have never had one that works well, but I think that's in part because the area where we have our computer is high humidity - it gets all the moist air from the bathroom when we shower. Paper james galore.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for helping that poor mail carrier - she was probably terrified! And you probably did save her life - pat yourself on the back! And jaded is a much nicer word than what I was thinking about that kid...
lovins!
fiwa
i love that photo of dali & the daffodils.
ReplyDeleteHi anon...how ya doing?
ReplyDeleteFiwa, I have trouble with things like printers too...but it's the humidity in my brain that causes the problems! LOL I wish I could find out how that mail carrier is and if the police ever made it!
Cheryl, I loveLoveLOVE my iPhone! It's a wonderful thing. There is still much for me to learn about it, but I did figure out the bluetooth! It's great to have the internet almost anywhere...there are limits but I can deal with them.
Dawn, do you think Dali may have been a bit of a Narcissist? LOL...okay that was baaaaad!
Dali rocks.
ReplyDeleteBluetooth is cool but for god sakes don't walk around with one of those little earpieces talking to yourself. I wanna smack those people.
I bet Ms. Letter Carrier carries some mace from now on, eh?
Cary, I don't want to risk getting smacked, so I keep mine tucked neatly in my purse. It's just there if I want to drive and talk, but it's funny you should say that...I have long hair and I pull it over the bluetooth so you can't see it at all! Looks totally dorky if it shows... I think geeky people like the "star-trek" look they get when they wear those things. ICK! But I'd almost rather smack someone NOT using one while they're driving and talking on their cell!! (Pet peeve)
ReplyDeleteAnother iPhone question. Isn't it hard to type with the letters being so close to each other and having to use the pad of your finger? That seems to be a big drawback. Can you use a stylus? Can you reply to my e-mail address?
