A day of not so much

I have been having one of those days with not a lot happening, so it's hard to think of things to blog about. Don't get me wrong tho, I kinda like days like this.

I did get an email from my best friend from high school. I was supposed to meet a bunch of my h.s. buds Tuesday night. For a couple of reasons, I didn't make it. I'm sad that I missed it, but it will be fun to see them soon. I'm going to invite them all over here for lunch or something, or maybe get together with them at a cozy restaurant. I wasn't really up for a class reunion that day and I guess there were 14 girls (old ladies, really!) and most of them didn't even know each other! My 3 best friends were there, but they didn't know any of the rest of them. I went to a big enough high school with enough classmates that it's not surprising that they didn't all know each other.

I took some bars of African black soap and jars of African shea butter to work to sell today. I was shocked that I sold out before I went out on my morning bus route! I love this stuff and use it everyday of my life. Guess my love of the stuff shows! And even tho I'm NOT a sales person at all, enthusiasm can sell anything! I wasn't selling it to make a profit... well, maybe just a tiny one, or at least cover the cost of the stuff and the jars...but I do love these two things and wanted to share them with some of my co-workers!

Does anyone know how to keep seedlings from damping-off? I am successfully growing a lot of seeds, but some of them are just determined to damp-off (rot at the ground level and die). If anyone has any suggestions, let me know! In the meantime, I'm just adding more seeds every time I lose some! Some of them have to live, don't they?

Is everyone done with their taxes yet? I haven't even started mine...in fact, I haven't even looked at any of it yet. I'll probably do TurboTax again this year, or maybe I'll opt for my tax girl to do it. I'm not sure yet. Either way, I hope I don't have to pay this year!

  1. Well, Ginni, Minou is now pretty experienced with TurboTax (we do the online version so there's no software to buy or keep up). Shall I send him to help you?

  2. If you figure out the trick with seedlings - let me know. I never had any luck with them - even when I tried the infamous Garden Web winter sow method. BUT, your cilantro seed packet did inspire me to pick up some cilantro seeds at the box store. There's nothing that wouldn't taste better with a little cilantro on top, so I decided to take your example and grow some. :)

PS - we have not done our taxes yet either.

  3. I have most of my papers together for taxes. Not organized. I don't know why I wait so long. My neighbor and friend does my taxes every year. That's a good friend.

  4. Gin try making some chamomile tea and using that to water your seedlings.
The chamomile helps to fight damping off.

  5. Thanks for stopping by and the kind B-day wishes.

You sell African shea butter? I have a touch of Rosacea and actually just heard about it yesterday as an alternative med. Would love to pick some up and try it. Don't mean to impose but can you help?

  8. Anne, send Minou over...he can help me with my taxes! I'm sure he's probably much better at doing them than I am!! haha

Good luck with your cilantro...I love that stuff! It's even great in stir fry! (After you fry of course! ;) )

Cheryl, I have no idea why I wait so long. I always do tho until I'm pushing the deadline. Guess it's a holdover from doing that when I was a reporter! LOL

Oooo Jackie, I knew you could help me!! Thanks sweetie, I'll get some chamomile this weekend. I love that stuff for a relaxer at bedtime too!

Brad, of course I'll help. I've sent ya mail.

Sis, I love 'em too! Relaxing is one of the things I long for the most these days! Productivity has it's perks, but ahhhhh a day to relax is golden!

  9. Will the African black soap turn me black? Not that I care; I just want to know what to expect when I use it, and whether or not I need to tell my kid that daddy will look a little different after his shower.

  10. Hahaha Cary! No, I'm white as the driven snow and I've been using this stuff for 4 years! Altho an African-American co-worker asked me when I turned black, when I started selling her some of the stuff! I said "What?? You didn't know I was black???" She just reared back and laugher her big wonderful black-lady laugh! I just love her!!!
