Okay, so I'm going to confess something right here and now. I love opera! Well, certain opera. I cried when Luciano Pavarotti died a few weeks ago. I cried when Paul Potts won "Britain's Got Talent".
Watch this youtube of his first performance and see how you react...if you haven't seen it before, I guarantee it will stir emotion in you. The audience was crying, the judges were awed, and I fell apart. This is my favorite opera song and I thought I was true to Luciano in my favorite to sing it. Move over Angel Luciano, Paul is kickin' butt!

ReplyDeleteDo you like Sarah Brightman? That is one of my favorite pieces too, and she performs it on one of her CDs. It gives me goosebumps and I never tire of hearing it. Please let me know if you haven't heard of her, I will intiate you into the coven, my lovely. ;)

ReplyDeleteI had heard of Sarah B. but never heard her music. An old boyfriend told me about her, tried to record a tape for me and it didn't work. I forgot all about her until just now!
It's the wee-wee hours and I just signed onto iTunes and bought three of her songs! I got "Time to Say Goodbye", "Nessun Dorma" and "Music of the Night". She IS good! But I'll have to wait until daylight to listen to them full blast! That's how good opera is best...with no holds barred, throttle full open and speakers lashed to the dash so they don't bounce around! Don't want to wake the house, it's 2am! LOL

Oh girl, loook up one called Anytime, Anywhere from her Eden album. It's not from an opera obviously, but it's SO BEAUTIFUL! It still makes me cry, 7 years later. Every time I hear it. She also does a cover of Dust in the Wind that's very pretty. Also Un Jouril Viendra, Tu, Scene D'Amour, those are all from Eden which was my favorite of her CDs. Oh goooooody!!! I'm so glad you like her Ginni. :)
ReplyDeleteThey don't seem to have any of her Eden songs on iTunes, I'll have to check thru the long list of her stuff to find them, if they're there. I listened to the ones I got in the wee hours, this morning after I got up and wow, she has a beautiful, clear voice...it reminds me in a way of Enya, another of my faves!
