I just discovered the game of Sudoku to help fill in free time on the school bus (NO, not while I'm driving! LOL But while I'm waiting between routes!) and it's also helpful to exercise my mind and make my memory better which helps keep my sanity on track. It was recommended to me last week by my therapist and it's great! I totally doubted that I could do these complicated things. But, in one week, I've gone from doing the easy puzzles to bravely trying a couple of the evil ones on the online site I use (Thanks Ruth!)!
I have NEVER been a numbers person, I did NOT excel in math...I still have NO idea how to find the value of X!! But, since opposites attract, I have dated a couple of math teachers in my time...LOL. I'm not sure that counts tho. But I love playing this game and erroneously believed you had to be good at math to do it well. It's not about math at all, all you have to do mathematically is to be able to count to nine! I can do that! And very well, if I do say so myself! But it's more a game of elimination.
I have a book or two of it, and a little hand-held game that uses a stylus to select the numbers. That's how I play on the bus. The games are timed and about 6 1/2 minutes is the best I've done so far. Of course, I get interrupted a lot, so I need to try it when I have no distractions!
Have you ever tried it? If not and you have time to kill, I highly recommend it! I got Andy to try it, and being the ultimate puzzle person, he picked it up right away!

ReplyDeleteOh, and I Sudoku, and I love it. It's great on the plane. I was afraid of it for the math reason too, but it's not a math thing, it's a reasoning thang. Makes you feel so smart when you figure one out, doesn't it?!
sudoku can't be any worse than driving with a cellphone!
