Harry Potter...Breaking up is hard to do!

Well, I just finished the last ever Harry Potter book. Gosh, I had NO idea I'd react like this! I was bawling like a baby and could barely see to finish the darned book! I won't give away anything here but I will just say that I'm sad that it's over...all over. Well over unless JKR decides that she can't live without wizards in her daily life, either! She may just get a cool idea to write more about them after she has a well-deserved hiatus (hope I spelled that right...I mean a break in her work...not the icky hernia!!) Anyway, this was worse than breaking up with an old boyfriend! And then trying to look at a sunset without thinking about him!

I enjoyed the books, I read half of #5, all of #6, and all of #7 all in a flush of reading every free moment I've had in the past 3 weeks! I will miss the black and blue forehead and the watery, tired, sore eyes! Not to mention the fact that my body will probably freak out at all the sleep it will get now! Bedtime is my normal reading time...I did about 2 hours per night recently and I'll probably have a great case of insomnia now! And without Harry and his buds, the silence will be deafening!

Anyway, it's been a fun journey and I'll miss the best kids books I've ever read! Well, at least SOME of the best! And definitely some of the longest. The sun had to set on Harry Potter books sooner or later. I'm sure JKR knew what she was doing.

I remember when my friend Celeste loaned me the first book so I wouldn't have to buy it. That's been a long time ago!! A lot of water under the bridge since then. Celeste moved to Kansas a few years back when her husband's job transfered him to a new office. I sure miss Celeste, I think I need to drop her a line and see how she enjoyed book #7. I know she read it!

Well, I wonder what future fantasy characters will fill the huge void Harry and his friends have left us? I hope the books and the characters are half as endearing and adventurous ...

... and I hope I write them!

I could use a billion $!

Thought for the day...

Silence is golden, but duct tape is silver.
