Time to sit in the garden.

I'm trying to make time to go out and sit in the garden. I'm not doing very well, yet!

I want to take my tripod and cam out to get some new shots and the garden is the perfect place to see things I need to take shots of. I have a deadline for a few photo shows I'm entering and deadlines always seem to make me stall out. I've always pushed the dead-line...I'm never late, I just use up every free available moment. It drives my family crazy. It's probably a throw-back from my jounalism days, working at the local newspaper. I was a free-lance correspondent for 12 years. It was a learn-by-the-seat-0f-your-pants type job. (I was an art major back in my caveman days and took NO journalism classes!!) I sort of BS'd my way into the job. Oh I can write and I can slant things so they aren't untruths, but they're worded just so in a resume. I would never lie, not at all...I just know how to say things to their best advantage. I knew I could do the job, I just knew I could learn as I go. And so I did. I loved that job, I just wish it had been a bit more regular and steady income. Sad that it boils down to $$$, eh?

Anyway (wow, that was a tangent!) I have to try to get some photos...GOOD photos of birds/critters....roses/lilies...and anything else photo-worthy I can find. And just as an example, I usually have to take 100 photos to get one good one! So we're looking at around 1,200 photos that need to be taken, mulled over, edited, cropped, yada, yada, yada. The show is at our local fair and will be July 17th-21st. Then another one is July 31st-Aug 5th. And yet another one Aug 14th-Aug 18th. All the shows have different prerequisites and the photos either have to be framed with glass...or without glass...with frames or matted or both...one size or another is a specific guideline, depending on the show. So, I have to do a lot of prep work besides just taking pictures and editing them and printing them. But I love it all! It's a good feeling to be creative. I need it, it's part of me. This works!

I will also exhibit some painting and sketches. Maybe. I have a few ready but need more. I am going to enter all the events I can, if I don't make it, well that's okay too. I'm just not sure what route our lives will be going in the next few weeks. I just want to be prepared so if I can show, I'll be ready.

I got a card from the vet's office today. It said "Could you possibly fit us into your busy schedule" and it showed a couple puppies and a kitty looking all dejected and neglected. Their little faces are so sad.

Rosie is due (actually over-due by a couple days) for her heartworm test and rabies shot. I must call tomorrow and get her an appointment. I totally forgot...so altho you see a couple black lab puppies and a little gray kitty on that card, when I look at it my eyes see a little fawn-colored Chihuahua with a tiny blaze, looking all neglected! I'm a baaaaaad dog-mommy.

I promise I'll do it tomorrow.

Today is Andy's birthday. I forgot to get a card or a cake or any of that. I did remember to wish him a Happy Birthday and made him a nice lunch, but the visiting nurse was here when it was time for him to go to work. I feel so bad. I will make it up to him somehow. I love that man...he does so much for us...I need to find him a nice gift. And I need to have something special for him when he gets home from work tonight at 11:30pm. I know!!! I will make him some banana bread!! I have some nice ripe bananas just sitting here! He LOVES banana bread!!

I paid bills today...finally! Then we got the mail and there were more. So I'm going to go deal with those. I have to get with the program and get organized.

Thought for the day:

Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.

Tell Andy I wish him the best birthday ever!

That cracked me up when you put Rosie's pic in there over the puppies.
