1-1-11

I love cool number things so I just had to post today! Hope you're all safe and having a great first day of 2011!

It went from 55° yesterday to 19° this morning. Okay, I see how it's going to be! Mother Nature loves playing tricks on New Year's Day!

There are certain foods eaten to bring luck, prosperity, progress, fertility (ack!!), longevity and all sorts of good things.

The six major categories of auspicious foods are grapes, greens, fish, pork, legumes or beans, and cakes.

I've got Cowboy Beans in the crock pot. We're doing a pork loin too!

Did someone mention cake???

  1. Down here, it's black-eyed peas for the beans, cabbage or turnip greens for the greens, ham for the pork, and I didn't know about the fish, grapes, and cake thing but I'm up for cake any day! LOL

    Happy new year, Gin! XOXO

  2. Yes, cake does affect longevity -- not in the way we'd think, though -- and definitely not the eaters' -- but what the hell!

Really warm here today -- we're going to un-decorate the outside. It's time, I guess... :(

  3. The only auspicious food I've had is cake. Not very auspicious. I've just got to work on that!
