Terrible pic, but just trying to get a photo for ID purposes.

It was a pretty boring hour, bird-wise, which I imagine happens a lot in bird-watching. I was just sitting back enjoying the beautiful natural corridor we were sitting in and taking in all the beautiful butterflies that were hiccuping by...we saw at least 10 different types. Very difficult to get pix of them, they don't stop for long and if you get too close, off they go. I took about 50 photos of this beauty and did manage to get one good enough to let me ID it. It was flying all over and this was a photo of it on the move...not sitting still. I love my new lens!
Tiger Swallowtail

Off to our left the sun was cutting between the trees and making an interesting patterns of lights and darks on the ground so I took a photo, thinking I could possibly use the scene in a painting but I'd have to add a main subject. I was really wishing there was a deer there. It was such a beautiful view.

I turned and said something to my sister, who was sitting with her back to the area I had just photographed. When I looked back, here's what I saw...I couldn't believe my eyes!

I think we were where she wanted to be...she kept stamping her foot and huffing really loud thru her nose and throat. (The deer, not my sister...LMAO)

Make sure you look close at the pictures of the deer...I got a surprise when I saw looked at them on the computer!! I had no idea while I was taking the photos!
My sister turned around and saw her for a few moments and then she stood up so she could get some pictures. The big doe was having none of it and off she went! What a beautiful creature!

We had just packed up our cameras, bird guides and binoculars and we saw her in front of us peeking out of the woods, much much closer to us than she was before. How cute was that...but of course, no pix because we had already put everything away.
It was an awesome day in the woods after all!!
I looked for a long time but finally I saw that sweet surprise! Precious.
ReplyDeleteGreat images, Gin! I'm so glad you're enjoying your camera!
XO
No wonder she was stomping! She was protecting her fawn!!!
