Emotional Day

Well, my last workday was today.

I had no idea it would hit me so hard.

I seem to be an emotional mess and I think I know why. I liked my job. A lot. But it was getting very stressful and the realization of my responsibility and liability as I pondered retirement have come crashing down on me like boulders in a landslide. I don't want that much responsibility anymore.

But my job was really tied into my social life and I love my co-workers...almost every single one of them. And I'm going to miss them terribly. Oh, we'll keep in touch for a while. And they'll invite me to lunch when they go but it probably won't quite be the same. I have most of their email addys or phone numbers or I'm hooked up with them on Facebook and that's all good.

Things change...and I'm ready for change.

At least I think I am.

One By One

by Enya

Here am I
yet another goodbye!
He says Adios, says Adios,
and do you know why
she won't break down and cry?
- she says Adios, says Adios, Goodbye.
One by one my leaves fall.
One by one my tales are told.

It's no lie
she is yearning to fly.
She says Adios, says Adios,
and now you know why
he's a reason to sigh
- she says Adios, says Adios, Goodbye.
- she says Adios, says Adios, Goodbye.

One by one my leaves fall.
One by one my tales are told.
My, oh my!
she was aiming too high.
He says Adios, says Adios,
and now you know why
there's no moon in her sky
- he says Adios, says Adios, Goodbye.
No Goodbyes
for love brightens their eyes.
Don't say Adios, say Adios,
and do you know why
there's a love that won't die?
- don't say Adios, say Adios, Goodbye.

- don't say Adios, say Adios, Goodbye.
- don't say Adios, say Adios, Goodbye

  1. Y'know, I never really knew what the words were to this song. A poignant one for you as you say goodbye to one part of your life and perhaps hello to something new.

  2. Of course it was an emotional day! You probably will miss it for awhile, but by the time summer is in full swing you will be so occupied with other things you'll wonder how you ever found the time to go to work! And you'll keep in touch with those co-workers. :)

Enjoy it Ginni - you've worked hard and you deserve to be a lady of leisure now!

    love and hugs-
    me

  3. Change is rough even when planned -- the immensity of it hits us like a wave. I'll always wonder if I made the right decision to retire, but one thing I know: I'm happy and excited about all the possibilities that would not have existed had I still been teaching. Hang in there!

  5. Aw, Gin, that's sad and sweet at the same time. You'll love your new found freedom, though...more time for writing on your blog! woot! lol

  6. Thanks ladies! I feel a lot better as these past couple days have gone by. I keep sort of freaking out at the fact that I have nothing to do...I can sleep in...I can do whatever I want! I'm liking that feeling, altho it will be a while getting used to it. Freedom is definitely the word...and New Possibilities...and changes...and leisure time!!! Wow! And thanks Cheryl...I have that song running thru my head.

    It's all good!!
