Just checking in

All is going well here. We spend a lot of time in the garden these days and that's good! I love having good enough weather to do that...and do it a lot. I've got somewhere around a dozen roses waiting to be planted and they'll get done today. Okay, so it's more like 17 roses, but that's okay...8 of them are miniature roses and in rose circles, they don't count! Or at the very least, it takes 2 miniatures to equal one "real" rose.

I was reading my friend Ruth's blog posts and saw that she was posting some pix of her art work...since I've been doing a lot of that lately, I thought I'd share some of my colored pencil drawings with you. I'm loving this medium and having a lot of fun finding some interesting things to use as subjects.

Here are a couple of class drawings. Not class, as in high-class, but class as in college course-type class.

This was one we were assigned and we weren't allowed to use brown to make chocolate! It was quite a challege!

This is one I have to turn in Monday at class. I'm taking a floral colored pencil class right now.

I did this one just for the "red" of it.

And this one for the "green" of it.

I think I see a food theme going here...

Yep...definitely a food theme...

Not sure about this one...but you'll notice there's also food in it...

Oh well, it's all fun....food or not!

Hope you are all well and happy and having a great spring!

  1. You and Ruth are really tearing it up!!! I'm so glad you're doing things that are making you happy. AND I'm glad to see you've posted. I've missed you.
You sound like me with the roses! I'm replacing every rose that's died (and there were quite a few) with Double Knockouts. They're heartier and frankly, the losses are killing me!

  2. Love the drawings! And I'm loving this weather too. I've been tearing up old beds, making new ones and just generally playing in the dirt. I should take pictures! LOL

  3. Ooooo I wish I could draw like that! - great work.

I remmber pics of your garden from last year. Where in the hec are you gonna find room for 17 roses??? Or did you 'upgrade' the back yard too? Ha!

  4. Hey, Ginni! You're alive! And drawing!

So tell me, what are the roses you're planting? I traded out a few roses this year, too (though in So Cal, January is the month to do it). Golden Celebration is already showing itself to be a good bloomer while Jubilee Celebration is reminding me never to buy from Armstrong again :-(

Glad to hear you're well and enjoying gardening! What are your veggies this year?

  6. I have the colored pencils. What am I waiting for, especially since MD is nothing but mud and I can't garden? Maybe that's why I'm fake farming?

Love your drawings. Are you framing them?
