Wow, I didn't realize that it has been so long since I've blogged! I've been busy with fun stuff...and not-so-fun work!
I'm taking 3 more college drawing classes. I just finished taking a watercolor class and I've been doing a lot of painting. I'll post pictures of everything (well, almost everything) I've done in the past couple weeks when I get time to photograph them all. I'm really loving this, it's a good thing to do to get me thru the next few weeks before winter is over! Altho, I'm thinking of signing up for a couple more classes. They would take me thru into mid-May!
I'm almost done with "The Pillars Of The Earth" by Ken Follett. It's a really good book! I spend a lot of time reading at night when I should be sleeping, but I'm so into this story. I have the sequel sitting here waiting to be read, too.
I've also been playing a virtual farm game on Facebook. It's fun and relaxing and taking up a lot of my online time. You should check it out if you haven't already and if you sign on, let me know and I'll send you a chicken or two! It's so much fun that I even ordered a game for my Nintendo DS called "John Deere Harvest In The Heartland". If I were to be psychoanalyzed, they'd probably say I was trying to find a chicken-replacement!
I owe so many people email and I still need to get the Weekly Word Challenge photos up from last Tuesday! And speaking of photos, I'm way behind on my 365Photos Blog...and tomorrow is the first of March...YIKES! I'm at least half a month behind! Sis, how are you doing??
My sister Marsha left for Cancun this morning. She and her hubs drove to Chicago and stayed overnight last night and they'll spend a week in Mexico. I am happy for her, but I'm a tiny bit envious. I could sure use a week of de-stress time in a tropical location with turquoise water and palm trees. And a "Dirty Banana" sounds divine right about now!
Work has been a real bitch lately. We are down even more drivers and altho we have a few new people in training, it doesn't happen overnight. A school bus driver has to be trained, given a physical, including drug screening, fingerprinted, background checked, they have to pass a bazillion tests to please the Illinois Dept. of Transportation. So it takes at least a couple months. In the mean time we all have to do double and triple duty. I've been picking up some kids from two other routes every morning, and filling in where ever I can to help out. It's a good feeling to know we're doing the job with a third of our staff gone, but it sure lays on the stress. My poor boss is doing great, but she's not sleeping at night and worrying more than ever.
Well, I'm going to get to bed and read. I only have a couple hundred pages left and can't wait to finish it...but at the same time I hate for the story to come to an end. It's one of those books!
I'll visit your blogs soon, I promise!
Ginn!!! So wonderful to hear from you. I feared you'd gotten into your bus and driven South to warmer weather and the beach!!!
ReplyDeleteI, too, loved Pillars. I like Follett a lot -- did you ever read The Eye of the Needle. Probably the most suspenseful book I'd ever read.
The painting sounds so theraputic -- I'm glad you're having such a good time with it.
The Farm Game -- does one have to pay to play?
Did I ever tell you that turtles have a special place in my heart? (Yours are driving me nuts -- they NEVER get enough to eat!!) Yes, I have a turtle garden (not real turtles) and turtle figurines all over the place.
Hi Ginn
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your pictures...I play on Pogo and there is a farm game there that is quite addictive, four seasons , plant crops, etc. I will check out the Follett book, any book that one hates seeing come to an end is fantastic.
Kathy, I sent you a note on facebook to help you with the farm if you want to play. I will see if I can find the Follett book you liked...I love his writing style. It's so easy to read!
ReplyDeleteRosemary, I will have to check Pogo!! And please let me know if you read the Follett book! I'm just about done and it's wonderful!
Oooh, I'm sorry about the double duty work schedule - not too nice for this time of year! Hope you stay safe on the road. I love this little roundup post to catch us up with what you're up to. I'll be thinking of you as I stay up to read, too ;-)
ReplyDeleteI've noticed that you've been doing a lot of "farming" lately....LOL (Thanks for the Easter Egg ;) ) It's probably a better way to get your farming "fix" than having chickens in your back yard! LOL
ReplyDeleteAck - it ate my comment.
ReplyDeleteI was saying... I'm so jealous - I'd like to be in Cancun right now too! I read Pillars a long time ago, but I know I liked it because I still remember the name. Keep up with your painting classes - you have so much talent.
Love you!

Great to hear from you too! I know a lot of people are doing the farm thing. I don't understand it, which is probably just as well. I have enough distractions! Sounds like you're busier than ever. As long as what you do keeps you happy, keep doing it!
ReplyDeleteBeen missin ya!
ReplyDeleteXOXO
I LOVED Pillars of the Earth. Great book! I read when I should have been sleeping ... same as you. :)
ReplyDeleteWe've both been bad about posting. A farmers life and all...I need farmer advice: to buy a barn or a house first ? Does the barn make money ?
ReplyDeleteBaby's doing well this morning. She's nursing from Momma a bit more but still needs a little help. I'm worried that werr handing her too much. How do parents (real ones) ever do this !
Hi Ginni. :) I just wanted to come by and say hello and I hope you have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteLove & bughugs,
