Wow, I forgot how much the time change kicks my butt! It's not quite as tough to get used to the fall change, but it's still different. Last night I was ready to go to bed at 9pm by the clock, but in my head it said it was 10pm. We stayed up to watch the Chef Jeff Project on the Food Network but it was hard to keep from nodding off. I guess we're just such creatures of habit, we get set in our ways and even a little change can throw us for a loop!
We took Dad to Red Lobster this weekend and we sure enjoyed it. He loves getting out and about a little. He never wants to stay out very long, but he loves to go out to see the fall colors and eat a good meal. He couldn't get over how pretty the trees were. It was a nice drive to RL, we have to go over to Iowa and that means going across the I-74 bridge over the Mississippi River and the trees all along the river banks were awesome!
We spent a couple hours at Dad's place Saturday night. We watched the Guy Lombardo Hour and the Lawrence Welk show with him. Both of them are on PBS on Saturday nights. He sure loves that old dance band type of music. I'm thinking of getting him a turntable type stereo for him for Christmas and trying to find all his old records. I'm not sure if one of my sisters are storing them for him or if I'll have to buy some on eBay or where ever...but I think he'd really enjoy having his music whenever he wants it.
Wooohoooo....The basement is finally done!!! We worked on it some more over the weekend, just mainly cleaning a going thru a few boxes of stuff that were left, and the only thing we have left to do is to get a couple of recliners for the family room. I think we're going to get them for each other for Christmas. That was Andy's idea and it's a good one since we don't really have anything else we want or need this year.
I noticed the time change most because it screwed up when I wanted to eat.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see photos of your basement.
What a great idea for your Dad's Christmas.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good daughter you are. Lawrence Welk, Guy Lombardo and Red Lobster? I'm so glad your dad enjoyed his day with you.

ReplyDeleteSounds like the Dad is lucky to have you. I still like to catch Lawrence Welk...takes me WAYYYY back to simpler times. ..:)
