BLACK FRIDAY?
With the economy the way it is, Black Friday may just be a memory this year! It's not for lack of the stores trying tho.
I had to laugh the other day when I heard a commercial for one of the big box stores talking about the sales they had ready for us consumers for this very auspicious of shopping days. Then at the end of the commercial, after the announcer told us all the wonderful things about this super special TV they are almost giving away, and how much we all need this TV, he said "Very limited supplies!" I suppose that means there are two $80 TV's at each store.
So two shoppers will be battered, bruised and beat-up but they'll have an $80 TV! And the rest of us will just have to forget it!
Gee, and after all that hype, it's such a disappointment!
Well, personally you couldn't GIVE me a TV to get me into that shopping mess!!! I've never gotten up at 3am so I could be the first in line at one of these sales. I've never fought over any piece of merchandise, just to save a buck or two. I've never even gone shopping on Black Friday! I avoid this consumer congested commercial catastrophe at all costs!
I know there are people who love the challenge of grabbing the goods before another slick shopper can. I know this is a big day for Christmas shoppers. But has anyone noticed the Christmas stuff already out and the sales already going on, that have been since Halloween? Has anyone noticed that the TV that costs $80 today was $85 yesterday?
Give me the good old fashioned way of shopping..... Online! Amazon dot com is my go-to place for gifts and all sorts of stuff! Oh, I do plenty of shopping locally too.
But I'll go at 7am on a normal, quiet, peaceful Sunday morning, thankyouverymuch!
Man, I couldn't agree more! Last night we watched Tru TV's "World's Dumbest Shoppers" and laughed our asses off. What a mess! I'm doing my shopping online as well. PJ's and coffee - that's how I roll. LOL
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend Ginni.
Did you hear a Walmart employee got trampled to death today?
ReplyDeleteI went out last year to get a Kitchen Aid mixer. It was worth it. I wasn't tempted this year. I did a lot of online shopping yesterday morning. It took a lot of time, but was well worth it.
Enjoy your day!
I'm with you -- no BF shopping for me! It's overcast here and a good day to do stuff indoors, watch the cats chase each other, and drink something warm and cozy.
ReplyDeleteI've already done most of my shopping online. Still have to get four things, but it's only 11-28.
ReplyDeleteI heard about the trampled Wal-Mart employee. THat could have been my dad, who worked as a greeter for seven years. I hope this store makes everyone stop and rethink their insane fighting for bargains.
You go, Girl! I agree! I went out today to run some errands and passed the Mall. I didn't see crowds! The traffic around there wasn't bad, either. I think people are being careful this year, at least I hope so. Everybody needs to save their money, preferably under their mattresses! You couldn't get me up at 4 a.m. to see a naked Tom Selleck yet alone drive through the dark to shop.
ReplyDeleteNo, I hadn't heard about the Walmart employee dying. How horrible. And I know people who think this is fun. WTF??????
