...really makes me take stock and assess my life! I always knew I had too much stuff and thought I had gotten rid of a lot of it when I've had two roll-off bins in the past and filled them both. Well, obviously I did get rid of a lot of it, but wow...I still have too much stuff. This time, I'm either going to use it or lose it! I've made this decision!
Taking stock of your entire life is sort of tough sometimes. But it can be a good thing too.
I have a dear friend who's moving to a condo from her late husband's families old and beloved farm. She's packing up her old life, all her memories and moving to a brand new life. She's so brave...but she's excited too! You go Joanie!! You can do it and you'll be making all new memories to cherish.
I'm dumping things as if I were doing the same thing. I may move someday, just so I don't have so much upkeep and maintenance to deal with when I get in my dotage. But for now, I'm excited just to be making some changes in my present house.
I'm so impressed!!! There's nothing better than cleaning out the excess stuff. It sort of purges your soul.
ReplyDeleteOh Gin, you are soooo encouraging.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
You rock, my friend! We all need to downsize after aquiring so much stuff. It IS good for the soul.

I love your optimism, Ginni. I used to dread the day my parents had to move out of their home. But a few years ago, they had some college kids come in and sort their garage. Whatever they did not want, the kids took and sold. Win-win!
ReplyDeleteSomeday, I'm going to have to talk Michael into doing this. . . . But not soon. :-)
ReplyDeleteLOL Ruth.
ReplyDeleteGinni, you have my deepest admiration - so does Joanie.

Several years ago I found Flylady.com and it totally changed my life. Now *I* control clutter - it doesn't control me. Baby steps, honey, baby steps!
ReplyDeleteAnywho, now my mantra is "if I can't eat it, haven't worn it in a year, can't sleep with it, and don't absolutely love it...it's outta here!"
Have fun with your de-cluttering. It's amazing how freeing it is!
change is good.
ReplyDeletegood for you, ginni.
