MOUSE!

We've got a mouse in the house!! (Ironic, eh...since my last post was about cats!) I got up at 2:30am to use the bathroom and there it was, just as bold as brass and in fact, seeming almost friendly! We've had a window in the basement of our split foyer open to let the basement air out (one of our heavy rains killed our sump pump and we ended up with about 3" down there). There was a tiny place in the screen that would allow a mouse or two or God knows how many to enter. Andy caught one the other day and there is at least one more. I'm up getting ready for work and it's still running around. All night, I've set traps in places I've seen it and it just runs past them, sets them off and keeps on running!

I didn't sleep another wink fearing that damned mouse would get on my bed...at a couple of points, it was zooming around my bedroom with Rosie and Andy sleeping soundly! Now it's 6am and I'm off to work. I have to put all the traps back in places Rosie can't go...she's a cheese freak and would think they were a new cheese delivery system for her!

I wish I could bring a chicken inside...they kill mice! But they also poop indiscriminately! So do mice...ick I hate mice!!!

  2. EEEEKKK!!! I would sleep, either. I had a nightmare about having a mouse in my bedroom last week. It still makes me tremble in terror.

  3. You know I had this same problem a few months back. Try peanut butter on the traps. They can't grab it and run.

    Hope you catch it soon.

  4. What a good tip from Ruth! Ginni, I smiled when I thought of your friendly mouse. But then you mentioned their lack of house-training.... not funny. Ick.

  5. Is it a tiny one? When we had that mouse problem ours were so tiny that would couldn't catch them in conventional traps. Clarke went to walmart and bought these no-kill traps - looks like a little cage - and those actually worked better than anything. Of course, then ya gotta take 'em somewhere and release 'em or whatever, but at least they're out of your house.

Good luck girlfriend - I know how freaky that is. I slept in my car the first night I saw one.

    love and hugs-

  6. I never knew chickens kill mice - intersting. It also follows up on fiwa concern about what to do with the live cathes...off to the hen house.

I'll have Miss Lilly standing by if we need to ship her back there, counter to counter at the airport.

She's got at least 200 kills under her collar.

    Sorry Dear!

  7. EEWWW....I just got a letter in the mail today about a rodent infestation in our neighbourhood! One day as I was sitting in my family room watching TV I saw a huge grey rat scurry across my patio outside. EEK! And there are squirrels all over the place now starting to look for stuff to hoard away for winter. I hope I don't find any inside! Yikes!
