From the deck

We spend as much morning time sitting on our deck as we can. It's peaceful, the view is happy and flower-filled and we enjoy our coffee/dietpepsi and read the paper. Here are a few shots I took from my chair on the deck.

From my chair

Beside me are some colorful little ceramic pots I picked up at Hobby Lobby plus some nasty old plastic pots I planted some seeds and flowers in.

This is Torenia fournieri, sometimes called the Wishbone Flower...it's new to me and I got these because I was looking for something blue to plant in these little blue buckets and this was as close as I could find. I love this plant!

We get buzzed by these little hummers all the time. They go thru a lot of homemade hummer feed in a week!

We have volunteer sunflower seeds that came up in our little raised veggie beds. I left them so the goldfinches would visit our yard! They aren't quite ready yet, but the finches have been scoping them out! (No goldfinch in this photo)

We have our chicken coop in the shed down on the patio. There are two large blue pots with petunias and moss roses planted in them on either side of the doorway to the shed. Here's a zoom shot of the flowers in one of the big blue pots...

  1. The Torenia fournieri kind of looks like Johnny Jump-ups, one of my favs. I'll have to look for it. We've had more humming birds this year than I've ever seen.

The Goldfinch is our state bird.

I'm buzzing on my morning pain med. Forgive me if I'm weird! Hope your having a good day today. Give Rosie a scracth behind the ear for me and a lick from Bear.

  2. I love your colorful deck.

One of these years, I should get a hummingbird feeder. I'm starting to see a couple of the little guys a year, so maybe it's time. (We never saw one the first ten years we lived here.)
