Brad had a post about blogging the other day. Or was it just yesterday? I can't remember but anyway, it was very thought-provoking. It was about everyone's different style of blogging. I've been trying to figure out my own blogging methods and here's what I've discovered. I don't have a style! Not anything in particular, that is. I just type as the mood hits me and perhaps I'll post a line or two or maybe just a photo, in lieu of a post. Part of that is my desire to keep up with the Blogger 365 challenge. Some days I just don't feel like blogging at all and if it weren't for the challenge, I just wouldn't blog. But being the "virgo-gotta-finish-the-picture" type, I post something, ANYTHING, to fulfill that challenge. But usually, the posts that get the most comments are the ones where I just blather on and on about my day or what I've been doing. It's definitely NOT that I lead that interesting of a life, but what else do I have to talk about but my life and times? I suppose I could make up some fun stuff to write, but I'd rather just be me...boring, or not! I'm not sure if people really DO like to read about my mundane life or if they are just being nice?? YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! The funny thing is, 75% of the time I just sit down at the computer with absolutely NO idea what I'm going to write and just start typing. Sometimes it runs really long and sometimes it's just very short. Like tonight, I'm just staying awake until the tylenol I just took can take a hold. (This old knee is bugging me a bit tonight and sleep is elusive...I think all the treadmill activity is giving my bad knee a workout and it's protesting!)
I would love to have the time and energy level to read and comment on all your blog posts, everyday. But that just isn't a reality in my life right now. I have a few demands on my time and they are really important, so they have to come first. I find I'm spending less and less time on the computer all together. I have been making a concerted effort to read and make short comments if at all possible. I have a couple other places online I like to visit and make myself known that are as important to me as this blogging stuff. One is a particular conversation forum, a very intimate group of gals who have known each other thru thick and thin and for a lot of years, and one is answering email to a couple of dear friends who keep in touch with me that way. So, if you are a blog buddy and I don't seem to be as attentive to your blog as I once was, please bear with me for now. It will get better as I can find time. Just know that when I'm not there, I'm missing being there! I do love reading all the blogs I'm committed to and commenting is a big part of that.
Anyway, all of that being said, I just want you to all know that I appreciate you and your blogs so much. I've learned a lot from you. I've gotten some great recipes, some ideas for my own life and some great advice, whether or not you realized you were giving me advice. So whatever your blog style, keep doing what you're doing. You've all got it right!
And with that, I'm going to try to get back to bed. I think the tylenol is finally taking effect and my knee is feeling warm and friendly, not grating and aggravated now.
Ginni, love, your style is the way your own voice comes through. Manufactured style usually comes across as fake. Your blog is authentic, short or long. So don't sweat it.
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't know about everybody else, but I really DO enjoy reading your blog. And we all know I'm not nice, LOL!
ReplyDeleteHang in there, Gin, just go to our blogs when you can and fahgedabowdit when you can't! We'll still be there later...
XOXO
ya know...one of the best things about blogs is...no rules! do what you want...those who are interested in you will always keep coming back...just to see what's going on and see pics of Rosie and your garden...I'll always check in to get my daily dose of sunshine! :)
ReplyDeleteStream of consciousness, my love, and you are open and share some of your beautiful soul.
ReplyDeleteThat is your style.
xoxoxoxoxo
I think I'm a lot like you when it comes to blogging. I just write whatever comes out. Mundane mostly. I love the friends I've made...my life is much richer because of it.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to keep up with commenting, but, it's great to get comments, so we make the time. You are a busy woman. I guess I am too!
