At the risk of being repetitive

I am so hard up for something to post, I'm going thru the drop-down list of titles I've typed before that comes up whenever I start to type something in the title. Pathetic, no? I guess I've just been so busy with all the jobs we're trying to get done in the yard and garden, I haven't taken much time to think about what to post the past few days. It seems like coming up with topics is one of the toughest things about this Blog365. It reminds me of trying to come up with something new and fresh to fix for dinner everyday. Haha, that fails quite often too.

We did manage to get a lot done in the garden so far this week and it's starting to show. I haven't taken photos yet, I've just been too busy. But I will soon. I'm really happy with the way the garden looks now that some of the weeds are gone. I made a "to-do" list on a legal pad and it's got something on every line except the last three. We checked off 5 things yesterday and only have 19 things left to do. The sad thing is, I know I have another 24 things that I forgot to put on the list. Most of them are jobs in the garden to do. Oh well, I've always said my garden is a work in progress. I guess this just proves it!

I'm up in the middle of the night because I'm having problems with my old bad knee. (My "old bad knee" being which ever one is flaring up at the moment!) It's been paining me a lot lately. I'm sitting here typing waiting for the bio-freeze to dry that I put on it and for the Tylenol to take a hold. I don't generally like to take any type of pill in that category but I just can't sleep with it hurting like this. I was in a car accident back when I was 19 years old...metal dashboard, just a spin around the block in a friends new car, no seatbelts, lady coming at us in the wrong lane, head-on but only doing 30 mph, knees made Dolly Parton-like dents in that metal dash and my head broke the windshield...my knees were never the same...my head? Oh it wasn't hurt much, no lingering effects...imagine that!

Anyway, I really need sleep, I have a busy day today! Well, on the bright side, I have gotten 3 hours of good sleep so far, that is, until my knee locked up on me. Now if I can just string together 3 or 4 more hours, that would be great! Maybe once this Tylenol knocks the pain I can do just that. I'm going to drop a melatonin too just for chits and giggles!

It only takes me a few minutes to type up a blog post, so I won't be here long. It was either this, or write up a grocery list. And you know how exciting writing a grocery list can be.

I have a dilemma...I'm reading a book that I think sort of sucks...do I finish the book since I'm already about halfway thru it and have invested the time to get this far, in hopes that it improves...or do I drop the book in favor of the ones I really want to read this summer. I'm getting behind on my book reading because of this draggy tome. A friend recommended it and I just know she's going to ask how I liked it. I guess I'm not obligated to like everything someone else does. She just thought it was the bomb...I think it should be bombed!! It's a well-written book, but it's boring as can be. It's supposed to be scary and it's just not! I guess after all the Stephen King I've read, I'm a bit jaded. And unless the action picks up all it's going to do is bore me to sleep every time I pick it up. (Hey, how do you think I got those first three hours of sleep tonight? Hmmmm?)

Well, I'm back to bed...wish me luck!

  1. Ditch the book. I've had to tell friends that our reading taste differs. There's about two seconds of awkwardness, and then you move on.

Sorry to hear about the knee. Just think. Now you've got something in common with the best golfer in the world. Think how you can work this into conversation: "Yes, my knee is really bothering me, but just like my good buddy Tiger, I've decided to soldier on."

Well, that's sort of a lame joke (and that's an even lamer pun). I hope you feel better today.

  2. Drop it! Step away from the book!

Life's too short to spend time reading boring stuff...

Ginni - I want to tell you that just coming over here and reading about your day gives me a good feeling...you don't have to worry about having something to post, I love whatever you come up with!

Hope your ol' bad knee straightens up and tows the line today...I'm still fussin at my back, LOL

  3. Hey there - hope the knee's feeling better.

I have to disagree with sis. I've encountered more then a few books that were a bit of a slog in the first half but really paid off in the end. Give it a bit more and if it doesn't pick up soon after half way - nuke it.

  4. If you're halfway through and you're not liking it - you probably won't. I would ditch it- but skip to the end and see how it finishes.

Speaking of Stephen King, have you read "The Cell"? And if you did - what did you think about it?? I'm not recommending it if you haven't - just curious to see what you thought if you have read it.

For things to blog about - you could play the Meme that Sis did yesterday - favorite kitchen things. Also - Jay at Cynical Bastard played a fun movie one today. You can get his link off my side bar if you don't have it.

Hope your knee gets better. So the new bed doesn't help it? Do you like it otherwise? (the bed)

  5. If the book sucks, let it go. Too many times, I've kicked myself for sticking it out to the last page only to be disgusted for investing precious time in a story that was NOT worthwhile.

  6. I'd ditch the book, too. In fact, I just did. Not turning back! Now, I hope you get all the rest you need.

  7. I read 'The Cell' Fiwa - I thought it was ok but definitely not up to the same spinetingly standards or weird twists and turns that he usually does, imo.

  8. What was the book??? I'd say ditch it. I'm listening to The Colorado Kid by Stephen King. I just love the Maine accents. You'd never know what the characters sounded like if you read it in book form.

Sorry about your knees. When you're young you never think that your injuries will come back to haunt you.
