Iris!

One thing I love about this time of year is that many of my favorite flowers are in bloom. These are all photos I've taken in the past few days. They are mostly irises I got last year and hadn't seen too many blooms from yet. I was thrilled to see that these have bloomed so nicely this spring. I thought I'd share a few with you and hope you enjoy them.

  1. Hiya Gin. I love your irises. I've got some that are getting to be pretty big clumps this year and I have no idea how to divide them.

If you're ever going to divide yours, do you think you could do a tutorial for me? lol

You know I can do a lot of things in the garden, and I'm really good at growing from seed, but the one thing I haven't managed yet is dividing things. I tried to divide a daylily this spring and just ended up losing the part I cut off (not enough roots). If I can't figure out how to do this, I'll never be able to share!

  3. Dang Ginni. I would love to come and just spend a day in your garden.

I have an iris that someone from GardenWeb gave me (cottage garden forum) 2 years ago, and it's about to bloom for the first time this year. I'm so excited. They thought it was a peach color, but the buds look like a very dark purple. I can't wait to see it.

I love this time of year when everyone starts sharing their garden photos!

  5. Beautiful! I don't have any iris's in my garden and I see I'm missing out. I love the names of them too. I'm just waiting for things to pop over here in MD.

  7. Jackie, I will be happy to help you! I will take notes when I divide them. I promised a good bud some of the rhizomes (wink wink) and will be dividing them as soon as it's the right time. I'll take photos as I go too.

Brad, Rosie is a funny little dog and makes us laugh everyday. She is precious to us!!

Fiwa, I would love to have you come spend a day in my garden. You could just chill and smell the flowers!! :)

Ruth, I can't wait to see your irises! And I can't wait to share mine with you...literally! ;)

Cheryl, you should get some iris, they are so pretty and the foliage is nice all summer long. You can even get re-blooming iris now too!

Anne, I love to look closely at an iris, they are so intricate and beautiful! :)
