Between the chickies, all the new outdoor projects and getting the roses ready for their first spring appearances, it's been such a busy week and it will continue for a few weeks to come. I'm so tired when I come in the house at the end of the day, I'm ready to drop. Forgive me if I haven't been very attentive to your blogs but this is the time of year I seem to be the busiest and I love every minute!
My favorite chick "Abbie" (hopefully NOT Abner...won't know for a couple more weeks) always flies up to greet me when I come into the shed. She's looking a little mangy with her big-girl feathers coming in.

I fed them worms today and they loved it!! It was so funny, one would fly up and grab a worm out of my hand and go running around the chick corral, squawking it's little head off and the rest would chase it, trying to steal whatever it had that was so good! This is way better than TV!!

The "Green Acres" theme song keeps running thru my head. Wonder why?

Oh my gosh they are so cute Gin. I love Abbie and her "big girl feathers" lol.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on the better than TV part!
oh i love baby chicks, And ducks and well anything baby. What are you doing with them when they grow up?And please don't tell me dinner.
ReplyDeleteI love them when they get to be 'teenagers' and start figuring out the pecking order. Things really get funny then.
ReplyDeleteJackie...I can't wait to see if Abbie is a girl (first of all) then what she will look like when she's all feathered out. I think she looks like she's going to be very pretty...but she's such an ugly duckling now!
ReplyDeleteLilli & Nevada...YIKES!!! NO dinner here. I can't have roosters where I live and I have a very nice VEGETARIAN lady all lined up who will take any roos I get out of this batch. She just loves to watch them in her yard on her 3 acres! She lives only about 30 miles from here. I found her on Craig's List!! So all my babies will end up pampered pets!
Brad... aren't they fun! How many do you have? I think fresh eggs are the absolute best! But I could never cull them out of the flock and eat them!
I've caught up on your posts. You're so busy with projects. It's great that you and your hubby work so well together. Moving the bushes and plants around is heavy duty work. I'm going to miss out on two weekends, but it's still early. I'm still sore from all my raking!
ReplyDeleteOh, the babies are growing so fast! Can't wait to see your garden and all the plants in bloom.
ReplyDeleteCheryl...we always either have a project in the planning, in the middle of the execution, or we're tearing down to make way for the new things. Our garden is and always will be a work in progress! :)
ReplyDeleteAnne...they do grow fast. Saturday Andy and I both looked at the chicks and decided they had grown more from the morning to the afternoon!! It's amazing! Now I just wish they'd develop enough so we'd know if they were boys or girls! :)
The chickens are adorable, Ginni. Makes me almost--but not quite--wish I had some. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL Ruthie!!! You crack me up!! It is a lot of work, but it's the kind of work I love. I have a weird love of getting my hands dirty. And my hair and my face and my skin...okay so chickens aren't the cleanest of critters...but I love it! I also love taking a long hot bath and this is a great excuse...hahaha!!
